$110 Budget CPU?

I currently own a moble 2200+ CPU (256 cache version). I recently ran into $110 and not sure how to spend it. I was looking on newegg.com and was thinking of getting the "AMD Athlon XP 3000+ "Barton", 400 FSB, 512K Cache Processor - OEM" for $120.

I play alot of games (mmpogs) which need about 1.5 or 2gb of ram to play good. (planetside is the game by the way) Only problem is my ram is ddr2100 and one stick of 3200 =( I cant afford new ram at the moment and the cpu is 400FSB. So should i just get this cpu and take the chance of overclockign the 2 sticks to 400fsb? 🙁

Yeah...the chances of getting ram at 133mhz to hit 200mhz isn't very good. Even with the loosest timings, I doubt you'd get it.

Use the money for something else...with your requirement it seems the next time you upgrade you should a full system upgrade.

Dude save your money. Get a AMD Athlon 3200 Venice good for overclocking and good for games. save a little more and you will definitely enjoy it.
