The sheer size of the database requires that maintenance tasks that may take seconds on small databases take several minutes on this database. The maintenance window is simply the MySQL databases being checked for errors and indexes updated.

I will contact the DBA to see if we can tweak the maintenance window to make it a bit later for the west coast.

If my super-duper-expert opinion counts, I've noticed at most successful forums in terms of poster variety, the real administration rarely posts. Seems to be a really weird trend that holds true fairly often.
