Astounding how people who know so little about NY City post so much flat out wrong stuff.
First off, Blumey did cut the NY City budget a whole lot some years ago. In fact his approval ratings were so bad they rivaled Bushes now. In fact, the city was smellier because garbage pickup had been cut, and on and on for a whole bunch of services that were cut.
And when the city recovered Blumey cut taxes.
Now, just a couple of days after he got his term limitation overturned he anounces tax increases.
Seems to me, that's why NY'ers want him as Mayor so much. He will do the unpopular thing when it's necessary.
And with New Yorks economy getting slammed by the stock market layoffs, cutting spending would just make the NY recession deeper.
While I am not a whole hearted Blumey fan, I can't help but respect a guy with brains who does what is right for his city, and not for his politcal standing.

Bloomberg:
"Taxes are not good things, but if you want services, somebody's got to pay for them, so they're a necessary evil."

That's what you pay for sales tax? Up until 2 years ago, I was paying 15%, and now it's down to 13%.

Arnold is doing the same thing to California.

He is a Republican too.

Looks like Republicans have learned cutting taxes and spending doesn't work.

If you are going to spoend you have to at least raise taxes to do it.

Let them keep raising taxes until the U.S. citizens can't take anymore and revolt.

Have you looked at Obama's plans? Cut taxes, increase spending...

^Haha.

So you're for raising taxes on people in a time of recession?

Not even Obama is for that; in fact he's come out against it.
