How is that a hobby?
They didn't release it all at once so I'm waiting. I have no desire to wait a week between episodes.
Are we doing spoilers or is this spoiler free?
What I dont get is why he didnt reset the timeline after the fire. He would have a new journal and a chance to save the kid from the fire. I would treat it like groundhog day (minus anything that would get me killed) and work out everything relevant over time and then do everything on one trip.
This is assuming I understood it right that every time he goes in the closet it resets the timeline. Although I suppose a) there is no backup, but he could leave a note for future self or his buddy to make copies in case something happens to his research. Or b) there is a chance that he already changed something significant and no longer has all the info he started out with.
It seems like at a minimum he should be able to go back for a just a second to reset anything he's done in previous runs. As long as he doesnt do something that causes the diner to not exist.

The timeline he left advances 2 minutes into the future every time he goes in the closet. The journal would just be lost in the time stream if he reset it

Yeah, but it seems like there are ways around that to make sure there are copies. Do a Back to the Future thing where you pay UPS to deliver a note on a specific date, or tell the young version of his buddy to always make backups. I would even go back just to see if I already figured it out in a previous run. And worse case he'd probably still have access to all the research in the guys house, just not reduced down in a journal. I would at least go back and get a sports almanac to make sure I had money. Well, at the very least I'd go back and try to save the kid, or figure out if I needed to save the kid.
EDIT: Oh, and why the heck did he throw away his phone! iPhones arent cheap, and eventually he's gonna be back in the present.
