This is a good deal if you live near a Micro Center. I don't know how wide-spread these stores are but you can certainly find them in PA. Deal is good until 2/11/01.

Ick. HiVal.

Sony 8/4/32 for 149-50 = 99. (Best Buy or CompUSA)
Philips 8/4/32 for 149-50 = 99. (Office Depot)

or

HP 10/4/32 (9350i) for 149-30 = 119. (Circuit City)

Pay more for the quality. Or take the speed reduction. You'll save more time with the slower by reducing the bad burns.

I've had good luck with my HiVal CD writer at home. I wouldn't recommend the Sony for $99. We have that model at my work and it has created a lot of coasters.

Good luck getting that rebate if its from HiVal. They usually
don't mail it to you unless you can remember to hassle them
after about 6 months.

If I remember correctly, HiVal went out of business quite some time ago.

Getting a Hi Val rebate would be next to impossible, even if they are still in business.
