The best solution without replacing a headunit is getting an auxillary input adapter from P.I.E. or Blitzsafe. This works if your OEM headunit has an input on the back for a cd changer or tape player (like my 99 Accord does). The adapter provides a set of RCA jacks for connecting the ipod or any external source. They run $40 to $70 depending on brand and model.

Yep, I ordered one earlier today. Saying it ships "On or before 10/01/2003" , not holding my breath though. One interesting note is they appear to have changed the shipping to overnight?(no additional charges) not sure if that is a good or a bad sign.

yes that is how i intend on hooking up my next MP3 player to my 2002 Nissan Altima. Behind the factory radio, there's an AUX input.

watz the difference between 2nd and 3rd gen ipod?
The main difference between the 2nd and 3rd gen is size, 2nd gen is heavier and larger, also the 2nd gen doesn't have touch senstive buttons, the 3rd gen screen is sharper, there is a better remote connection on the unit, but the battery life has dropped from 10 hrs to 8 (due to the decrease in size)

Aparently there is a volume cap on both the 2nd and 3rd gen. but it is easier to remove on the 2nd gen, as on the 3rd gen it is physically built into the hardware.

also the 3rd gen has on the fly playlists. i found it really annoying that the previous didn't.

Had to laugh-- I was at my local BB tonight. They have a 2nd generation 20gig on closeout for $499.

I pointed out to the clerk that the 30gig new generation was the same price.:D

He said check back next week as the 20gig might go down. Don't worry--I'll be right there.

I've read all the stories about these ipod refurbs, but my ship date is on or before 9/26. I ordered early today. I also got Standard Shipping, but on the Order Status page it immediately showed up as 2 Day. I just checked it again, and while it is still an open order, the shipping was changed to Priority Overnite. Huh?

It's called supply. You hit them at a time where's they just want to blow out the demand with a happy service increase, congrats. It doesn't make other people's situations less valid.

The 2nd Gen 10/20 GB are now available for both Mac and Windows. 3rd Gen 10GB (w/o dock) and the 30 GB *with doc are also in stock now.

To those that have already gotten a refurb. How's the iPod look? Any blemishes or scratches or have they looked brand new? Just wondering how well Apple refurbs these.

Mine looks very like new. No blemishes or scratches at all. Only reason that I know I got a refurb is because the box had a sticker saying "factory reconditioned." (and obcourse because I know I ordered a refurb. ;) )

I don't think you will be able to distinguish between a refurb and a new retail if they were set next to each other. I love mine so far and glad I ordered this over Zen NX. (let me put my flamesuit on. :D :p )

If anybody in the Los Angeles area want a 15g or a 30g, PM me. I'll sell them for what I got them for (Apple Store price+tax). I received the 15g last night and the 30g should be here tomorrow. These boxes are unopened.

My roomate might has right of first refusal to the 30g, though.

Reason I'm selling: I ordered a 15g and then changed my mind to a 30g after it was too late to cancel.. Then ordered the 30s when they came available on Tues. I don't want to pay shipping back to Apple for the return.

Lemme know.

Guyz - just got my Ipod - but I dont have a firewire port but a IEEE 1394 4 pin port - on my Sony Laptop - So all those who got their ipods did you get a connector to convert from 6 pin to 4 pin - cause my friend got it -when he bought a 3'rd gen ipod for windows.
