Ah, crap, what date was your iPod scheduled to ship? Mine said 9/15 this morning but says 9/17 now, damn you Apple. If the order date slips again then I'm cancelling my order. At least with Dell they are upfront that it is going to take weeks to ship.

I might just cancel and get a Nomad Zen NX

Looks like everyone got a delay - not just for the refurbished 10G ipod which I ordered, but also the 15G brand new ones. Can anyone quickly post a reply if they get a order confirmation. I dont want to cancel this order as I love an apple IPOD a zillion times more than the zen .... ;)

are there any good comparisons between the zen and the ipod? i only need the 10gig ipod but i really want the 3rd gen 15gig for the sake of a remote and dock. i think a portable music device is kind of self defeating if you have to hold it in your hand whereever you go.

but alas i am in love with the ipod but too poor to afford one. if the 15gig dropped to about 200$ id be right there i think. im still recovering from spending 350$ on a mz-900 sony md player when they first came out only to have it break 6 months later. so i still have backlash from that experience...

but a side by side with zen and ipod would be nice...

Hoo.. lot of money for a glorified walkman but I plunked down for the 15gb 3rd generation one. I really only wanted the 10gb one, but I figured if I ended up buying the case or dock or remote eventually seperately it would cost about the same. $50 more for 50% more space and the extras included with the 15gb I just couldn't pass up. They charged me sales tax in WA, which I wasn't really expecting and they didn't show me until the order was placed, but I guess fair is fair.

In order to get the USB cable in my cart also I had to add a new ipod, then add the cable as an accessory and then delete the new ipod from my cart. Also I got a few bucks off on the cable (not the refurbished iPod) by entering through the Educational link.

Thanks anandtech! Now I'll have a music player that doesn't skip and I won't have to keep padding my discman with $300 in cash!

Just got the same email. Called them up and the CSR gave me a shipping upgrade to 2 day for free, hopefully it will finally ship on Friday.

elanarchist, does your order status show the change in shipping? I called on Monday and they upgraded me to 2nd day as well, but the order status still shows ground which makes me wonder.

EDIT: Thanks for the update elanarchist. I called back and the previous CSR had entered the info for the 2nd day upgrade, but didn't apply it to the order. It now shows 2nd day on the order status page for me.

Yeah, I just checked my order status at Apple's website and it now says 2 day shipping instead of ground. Might want to give them another call.

To get the upgrade I just asked politely if the CSR could do it, didn't have to threaten to cancel or anything.

I finally got mine today. Stupid fedex guy didn't pay close enough attention to the address and had been leaving the "tried to deliver" sticker several buildings over. Grrr.

Anyway, the thing came in a box that could fit 2 or 3 ipods. One minor problem: they didn't bother to put any packing material in the box! This thing has been bouncing around like a freaking pinball the whole way. So now I gotta call them and convince them to replace it. Bummer.

Bummer, can they refurbish a refurbished item? ;)

I believe this 2nd day is business day only. If it ships today, expect it on Monday. I'd be more concerned about Apple ever getting these back in stock. We may be waiting weeks.

The 5GB refurb I got about a year ago also came like that, I wonder why they haven't changed it so that it isn't packed so poorly.
