10GB MP3 Player for $99.99

It looks cheap. I just did some extensive searching on Amazon.com, Buy.com, and eCost.com for prices on 10-20gb players, and it still seems that the Dell DJ Jukebox (Dell Outlet) 15gb for $177 is the best. Anyone else find a decent 10-20gb mp3 player for less than $200?

I think that the prices for the 10/15gb iPods are way too much IMO.

Every now and again, Apple will have refurb iPods for around the $200 price point. They're usually the 10 or 15GB models. I've got the 20GB one and absolutely love it.

If you're thinking about getting this, I'd read the reviews on Amazon first...might change your mind.

About a week ago, I found a Creative Nomad Jukebox Zen NX 20GB at a Circuit City for about $192 (after taxes).

Yup. My experience has been Classic == Crap.
I remember looking at one of these at CC a couple of years ago - the thing is fscking HUGE - almost looked like they were using a 3.5" drive inside it.

I got a Toshiba Mobilphile some time back as a gift, and you can get them for well under $150 now. It only has a 5GB drive in it, but it's an actual PCMCIA card that can be ejected and put into a laptop- or you can use the built-in USB to transfer data. I like the fact that I can take the drive out and use it for regular storage.

The bad thing about this drive is MP3s copied to it have to be "encrypted" using Toshiba's software so you can't copy them to another PC. This is what killed this otherwise perfect player. The software thing isn't too bad, and truthfully my entire music collection is only 2.5 gigs, so it's plenty of space.

Might be something you could consider. It's a solid player and has a brushed aluminium case, bright blue LCD screen, decent menu system, and an inline remote for the headphones. Battery life is 18-20 hours. (comes with recharging cable).

Not bad. And it looks to be about the size of an iPod, minus the intuitive controls.
Classic - 3.3 x 4.7 x 1.2 in., ~ 10 oz.
iPod - 2.4 x 4.1 x 0.62 in., ~5.6 oz.

Not even near. Width is ~35%, length 15%, depth 100%, weight 75% larger than iPod's.

Buy this only if you do not need mobility (non-active use), on a budget, or have very low expectations. Otherwise you will be very disappointed. Refurbished Dell DJ 15 GB is often on sale for as low as $152, sometimes even with free shipping. Refurbished iPod is also a great deal. I think both vendors are more reputable than Tiger.

I love reading reviews like these:
Summary:
I am seriously concered about these reviews this product sounds falty Im was thinking of buying it until now. I think this product is real disfunctional by listening to all of these reviews but I will try my luck and by it...who knows it may just work!!!!
Summary:
Wow...and here i am looking to buy this product. I suppose the 'ol is addage is true...you get what you pay for. Perhaps the higher priced and more reputables products are the safest. thanks for the tips. Send your comments to Classic's manufacuturer, I did. support@emiglobal.com

I think this player is similar to the edigital treo10, which, having tried most new hd players, I still think is the best one ever made as far as UI goes. it had fantastic sound and crazy battery life too. but it never sold very well so it's hard to find them now. mine crapped out.

anyway, I know the Classic hardware is very similar, but the software (UI) may be different, so I dunno
