1080p reciever for sound bar ?/

hey im currently setting up my home theater and there is no way i can run wires the way my house is set up unless i start breaking ceiling and hanging speakers which is out of question so im looking at the definitive tech mythos -50 it seams to be the most superior in fake surround sound..... im also gonna go with a sub not sure which one might stick with the def. tech. i have ps3 xbox360 wii hd cable and a htpc all running hdmi besides the wii......so i need a reciever that displays 1080p thru hdmi and has real good quality sound to power my mythos and sub.....as far as hdmi inputs really don't matter because im looking to get an hdmi switch (any recommendations on a high end nice one ?)

so any recommendations on a receiver that does just what i need with out the overkill ???

and which hdmi switch does 1080p loss less ????????? also subs ?????

my room is 15 by 20...and budget is not issue but i do not want to spend unnecessary money

Budget?

All the current mainstream HDMI receivers can pass the HDMI video up to 1080p untouched or have the option for scaling. My minimum recommendation is the Onkyo 606, but you can definitely improve depending on budget.

FYI 5 HDMI inputs is doable in the ~$600 range (Onkyo 806 for example). Something to consider vs. a lower priced receiver + buying an HDMI switch.
4 HDMI is pretty standard now, so if 4 HDMI inputs is all you need, you will not need a switch.

I have recommendations in the sticky thread about subwoofers.

Does that 15x20 space have large openings to other areas, or is it enclosed?

So maybe you could take a picture of your setup and then put that picture up here and then we can take a look at it and give you advice after that maybe you won't need to use a soundbar afterall but can use a more traditional 5.1 6.1 or 7.1 surround sound setup the reason why Im saying this is because you might be able to buy cable covers that have adhesive on them and are paintable they really help when you have to run speaker wires or other cables on top of walls when you can't drill into walls or run wires underneath the floor which is quite common if you rent or have hardwood flooring I recently ran wires on the wall in my room and use cables covers which I textured and painted to match my wall it looks great!

Punctuation helps my friend. 🙂

Eh, if more HDMI inputs is all you need, buy an IR controlled HDMI switch and a good universal remote, like the Harmony One. It'll be cheaper, plus you'll get a lot more extra inputs and a very-useful remote.

As for a subwoofer, I'd recommend you look at subs from SVS and Elemental Designs. I personally have an SVS 20-39 PCi, and am quite pleased with it.
