And current bandwidth needs for 1080i 60 fields per second are already there. Not to mention any display at 1080i is a CRt which has severe resolution problems horizontally.
The furture is now. 1080p is the only way. Anything else is not "true HD". But yet people will buy non-1080p displays. go figure.
Too bad, there are better HD standards on the loom in japan that offers 3 to 4X the quality of 1080p.
Sux to be you, 1080p fanboi

think before you speak next time...
Ehh, let's not go there. You call us a 1080p fanboi? What are you? 1080i fanboi? 720p fanboi? just because you bought an OUTDATED TV set doesn't mean you need to support it to your death.
This is like SM2 vs SM3. I don't get why you can't concede that 1080p is better. There's no need to insult 1080p fans out there and there's no reason to defend your 1080i/720p set. If 1080p fanbois make fun of you, ACCEPT IT. You are outdated. But if they suck for making fun of you, let them sink that low. Why do I see people throwing out 1080p all the time.
BTW. I love my Sony Bravia XBR2. I love 1080p. When who knows whatever next gen resolution comes out, I will not yell "OMFG but 1080p is all you need"
