I just sold my 1070 and am looking for a 1080 to replace it. Looks like they are all around ~$550, besides a Massdrop $450 deal I missed.

I have 70 Dell bucks expiring on 7/20 and they have a PNY 1080 (tri fan) for $550. I figure the $70 expiring rewards + CB to eliminate tax is probably the best deal I'll find on a 1080 ($460 total). Even if mining somehow dies down or if Vega is competitive, the standard price of a 1080 probably won't suddenly go down to $400 or something right?

I was strongly considering the 1080TI that was $630 but meh... its a ton of card and my QNIX would have to run with a Display Port to DVI adapter so I'd be limited to 60hz, when I could run 96hz DVI on my 1070.

1080 and 1080ti prices have remained relatively stable in spite of the mining craze largely due to the fact that gddr5x doesn't seem to play nicely with mining. You may find flash deals here and there but I think the price will continue to remain stable until their successor is announced.

The RX Vega might put some pressure on the 1080 price, but I don't expect any sort of big change at all, at best a $30 cut its what we'd be looking at.

Vega just doesn't appear to be really competitive for AMD and the fact that they are using the more expensive HBM2 memory, which is also less available, it seems to me AMD is under pressure and is not likely to price the new Vega line aggressively.

In fact I think we are going to see about 15% higher prices on Vega over the 1080 for about 5-10% performance improvement in most games.

If the dell $ are expiring, I'd say a $70 discount is pretty good. You can get a 1080 from Best Buy for $549 and lots of people have $75 gift card from the craptop trade in, so its a comparable deal but you have to pay tax on it. The Dell deal with no tax looks slightly better.
