I graduated from high school three years ago and I keep in touch with two of them on pretty much a daily basis (AIM is great for that) and a few others every few weeks. The two that I talk to regularly are my best friends. I'd imagine that most people talk to at least one or two really good friends. I'd probably be in touch with more of my friends from high school, but my family moved a month after I graduated so I don't go to college with any of the people I knew in high school. If I didn't go to college 1500 miles from where I went to high school, I would probably be in touch with more of them.

personally, not really, if at all. it all depends on how real the person is and whether you can already see character flaws in your so called friends. if you truly think they are good people, then you'll likely keep in touch with them. if your friends are shady, you'll probably grow apart.

I've gone out of my way to stay see in person 3 friends from HS. I talk to a couple more on AIM once in awhile. I graduated 11 months ago.

I talk to a few HS friends over ICQ quite often. I keep in contact with about half a dozen other friends, but the core three or four I talk to when ever I can. Usually at least once a week. Its been 2 years now since HS.

only 1, who i stil go to school with

i tend to forget people very quickly and don't like to keep in touch with people... sometimes i feel guilty cuz of it... i don't even try to keep in touch with my cousin!

only about 6 of them...and its only been a year. I got rid of those that just used you, or those that never got out of high school in their minds.

i keep in touch with a few. of course, one is my next door neighbor, so i dont really have a choice. the other 5 best friends i have are scattered around the states, but we still keep in close contact. all grew up together, and all arrange meet-ups and still hang out with each other. still awkward seeing those other friends you drop outta contact with and see at the grocery stores and such and having those "fake" conversations (how you doing, where do you work, college?, blah blah)

why bother with the fake stuff? Fvcktards that dont bother to try to keep in touch with me dont deserve a fake convo...a polite nod maybe, but not a conversation.

While I'm on that topic, why the hell do "friends" ask why you havent called them? What, do they not know YOUR number?

After graduating from college I was only in touch with one person from high school. Now, 15 years later, I'm still only in touch with one. I'd like to catch up to about a half dozen others, the rest I really have little interest in at this point. Graduate school is where most of my best friends were made.

My circle of friends was/is different...we all somehow liked the same things, we were all the same kinds of nerds (swap D&D for SW for some, I suppose 😉), and so, quite handily, all 7 or 8 of us went to the Engineering school at the University of Michigan. I might not talk to all of them on a consistent basis, but I can still IM or call any one of them and pretend like we just talked yesterday. I'm very thankful for it.

On the other hand, the friends that weren't as close to me...I really don't talk to many of them at all. I became a new person at school and only talk to the old ones that happen to share similar interests at college.

My HS senior english teacher talked to us once about how your college friends are your true friends...I still don't know if I believe him, but from what I see in my new friends, it's very true.

I managed to keep in touch with maybe a score through college, but now, it's pretty much down to one (who happens to live about twenty minutes away), although I do have contact information for a couple of others. But that was over a decade ago (yikes).

I agree. My high school friends are my boys for life.
I can't even call all the people I met at college friends.

I've still got about 6 people from HS that I still see / talk to on a regular basis. I've got a lot more college friends than HS friends though.

no
i graduated in 1984
the last time i spoke to anybody in my class was about 15 years ago, but i did email one person a few times about 5-8 years ago

i am going to go to my 20 year class reunion and see how messed up/good they turned out

I think I still talk to a couple of them... but it's true your college friends will be your life-long friends... not HS... unless you had a best best friend there or something that you WILL keep in touch with during college.

10 years later and I talk to a grand total of one person that I went to high school with.

He was my best friend and still is.

10 years for me.

There are a number I still talk to. I was that guy who got married and settled down pretty quickly after HS, now I live in the same community I went to HS in and see everybody when they come in. There are a few who have gotten married and settled back to the community. They're starting to have kids now so we keep in touch a bit from that (I have kids too.)

I have found that, with a few notable exceptions, people don't change much. The people w;ho sucked in HS still suck. The people who were cool are still cool.

... and then there are those who became potheads while in college with their newfound "friends" ...

You see them back home and you say to yourself... WTF happened to him...

Alot of your friends in highschool are friends by "default". You go to the same school and see each other all the time. You may not be perfectly suited to being friends, but it's convenient.

When I got to University, there were tonnes of different people to meet, and you can really find friends who are a better fit and you will have more in common with them.

I still hang out with University friends. I havent seen anyone from my highschool in years.
