I live near a nice football field. It is a giant bowl with cement bleachers and sits next to a high school. On Sunday, my two brothers and I went there to play baseball with a bat and a tennis ball.
We went there and played. After getting bored, we went to the discus area and threw a 10 pound weight as far as we could. We then walked around the bleachers and back down onto the field.
It is important to note that you usually have to climb a fence to get in here, which we did. After doing so we noticed that the entrance opposite of our side of the bowl was unlocked and people came through it. There was at least one jogger there during the entire day.
So, since we were parked on the side we came in on, we were planning on going over the fence again to get back to the car. There is a small building of some sort (possible restrooms) with caged speakers above it. This building sits right next to the fencing. Because the fence is high, it is much easier to make it onto the roof and then proceed down the other side of the fence.
On his way up, my brother threw a tennis ball at my other brother. The other brother went to the roof with me and we waited for the thrower to come up (to get him back). He waited there, and we waited, for about 5 minutes. In the meantime we walked around on the roof (which is very solid, and probably about 20x15 ft., 10 ft off the ground).
Shortly before climbing the fence my brother threw an old folding chair he found about 10 ft. The chair was not damaged.
While on the roof, waiting, three cops come running in from the back enterence (same end of the football field, different side than we were on). They start shouting for us to come down and get on the ground. The whole time they were running, they were pointing their guns at us. My older brother (20) had a gun pressed against his back while being handcuffed.
The witnessing officer ('School Patrol', with car to match) had a heavy Russian accent and claimed we were climbing on the speakers trying to steal them (did not touch the speaker cage). He claimed on of us was the lookout while the other two on the roof vandalised (nothing was damaged).
While explaining our story (with a baseball bat and tennis ball sitting next to us), they claim that they've 'been doing this a long time and know what's going on.' I find it funny that all cops say this at the exact moment when they are wrong.
They felt generous by letting us go with only trespassing (wanted to add burglary and vandalism, but knew they couldn't because there was no proof). They say that I could get sent to another school (forgot to mention I go to this school). I also find it funny that I can get kicked out of school for going there.
Even funnier was the fact that joggers who had either jumped the fence or entered through the open gate were going around the track while we were being cuffed and having guns pointed at us. When we referred to them, we were ignored.
I have never met a good cop. As far as I'm concerned, they're all a-holes. This incident coming just after the Tacoma (where I live) police chief killed himself and his wife in front of their kids.
