Damn this hot ass weather, south winds and that stupid high pressure system keeping the rain away! My beautiful vines and bushes are turning brown and my tomato plants are wilting. :(

As if all that werent bad enough, you have people that dont know how to turn crap off (like the TVs, 5.1 stereos, lights, extra computers with dual moniters, and central air set at 72) that is causing us to reach the upper limits of maximum electrical output. We used 62,786 megawatts on Wednesday out of a potential 72,700 maximum available. Last year they projected a maximum use for this time of year at only 56,000 watts.

And dont get me started on all the water being wasted to prevent browning lawns. The lawn is not and will not be watered, just a few plants.

edit : Thermometer is reading 109

I'm in the dark, in Dallas, TX. Only things pulling power are my A/C, laptop, refrigerator, and a single CFL.

It's my energy and water and I pay for it. I will use it exactly how I see fit. Enjoy modern society and use that running water and electricity.

-edit-
If your tomatoes are not getting consistent water then they will crack and split or get blossom end rot and you wouldn't want that.

It's currently 108F at my home in Phoenix and we haven't hit the high for today, yet.

I don't put my AC down to 72F, though.

Nope I was west of that. It was fun while the clouds were around at least.

I think your honest opinion was a waste of electricity.

And you want to know the best part? Its not just the people but the cities and all the businesses that contribute to a depleted water table. Of course the biggest user is agriculture, but that doesnt mean all these cities dont add up real fast.

Theres only so much to go around people! When its gone, its gone!

Technically, my 1960s style thermomer is reading 109, but I was just going by the official forecast. :(

But I dont envy you one bit. My brother lives there and I have experienced the 115 degree days (we've had one of those too in DFW but its the norm over there).

Ban lawns!

I wouldn't mind, I hate maintaining them. I think that when I get a house I will not have a lawn. It will be awesome.

The air conditioners set to 72 have a far greater greater effect on power usage than lights/electronics being left on...

Mine is set to 83, and it's still running a lot.

Pickens can take his plan and shove it where solar power is ineffective.

The Pickins plan involves a bunch of new nuke plants. Without extremely long transmission lines.
