103.5 Degree Fever

6-7 weeks a go I got a fever that went up to 102 and last about 3 days, and the GF (a RN) suggested Tylenol (acetaminophen) because she claim that it is quicker to react and is better at lower fever. But I still uses Advil (ibuprofen) because it have less side affect than acetaminophen base drugs and is cheaper.

Base on many studies such as THIS, and doctors that I have talked to said it depends on the kind of pains that you have (printed on the lables) and dosage & administration interval make most of the different.

doctor.

go to the freakin' doctor or immediate care.

baring doing the correct thing as I mentioned. tylenol at 1500-2000 mg and rest.

MoPho said what I would of.

<---Sustained 107F in the hospital for over a week...had a/c as low as it'd go, had cooling blankets under and over me (ice cold water water is run through a bladder like blanket), with two box fans blowing.

I froze my ass off the entire time, but the temps took forever to come down.

Goosemaster claims that his uncle survived a persistent 111°F fever with no perm damage.

I am looking around the net, and it seems that anything under 105-106 isn't awful.. I really don't want to take Advil as it appears to be GOOD to have a fever, but at the same time, my head is THROBING if I don't take any. .

105-106 is when your body starts shutting down. 107 = dead

or i think! last i heard, 107 was fatal but apparently people do survive

I don't feel sick enough to need to call the doctor though, at least I don't feel like I'm burning up my brain ..

yeah, but you had cooling methods applied. IMHO, if you get seriously dizzy and have a fever of over 103 you need to do something immediately - medication or cooling or doctor or any combination.

glad you made it though that. must've had a serious infection.

ewww...nasty infection, potentially life threatening. Glad you're OK.

<---NOT a doctor.

-edit-

But god bless you mom for teaching me about this stuff. I read that sheet and fully understood what they we're saying. Love you MOM.
