102.5 degree fever and rising

i took 2 tylenol extra strength an hour ago. should i

A) take some ibuprofen
B) take a cold shower
C) both a + b
D) ER

my fever started at 100 this afternoon and has slowly been rising despite the tylenol.

If it tops 103, call a doctor. If it tops 103.5, I'd recommend ER. I have no medical authority whatsoever, but that's what I'd do.

Right.

If the fever is your only symptom, you should see the doctor if the fever;
-is above 104 for more than 2 hours despite taking Tylenol and trying to bring it down
-is higher than 102 for 48 hours
-is higher than 101 for 72 hours
-is higher than 100 for 96 hours

im kinda dillusional...like blurry vision and seeing stars. i had to break from my paper because i couldnt concentrate. oh and i havent eaten all day...

Then you should definitely go to the ER. I mean, if your vision is blurred and you can't concentrate, I can see how that could effect your common sense.

call the nurse at the local ER and tell them your symptoms, they will advise

(trust me, I've done this more than once)

Really? Where are you located? Most ERs I'm familiar with will not give out medical advice over the phone due to liability issues.

As for the OP, if you've got a 103 fever with no relief from tylenol and are now having vision problems, I'd recommend an ER visit. They may just give you more tylenol and send you on your way, but better safe than sorry. Of course, I probably wouldn't take my own advice, but hey, I'm too lazy to leave the house at 4am.

cold shower, drink lots of water

Don't think about ER until 105+

Any fever at 105 or higher is just bad news bears. You do not want to wait until it gets to that point to seek action.

Good luck driving to the ER if your fever is 105. If it's at 105 you need to call 911. I'd go to the ER at 103~.

Tylenol should help within an hour. If it doesn't, take a cold shower. If after all that your temperature is still 103+, ER.

I had this insane fever once. Middle of summer, two layers of blankets, and I was freezing. Temperature was 102.5+. But having two tylenols would almost take my fever away completely for about 4 hours.

I remember the worst fever I had when I was a young child was around 104.5. I was laying in bed, hallucinating weird and "slow" scary shit. So 103 is probably a good idea to get to the ER... unless you have someone else to take you should it get worse.

When I was little I had a fever of 105. It really does feel like you are close to death. Not fun 🙁

An Urgent care center, is just as good as a ER for these kind of things and you will be taken care of much faster, then if you went to an ER. They can advise you what to do ..ect

Just tell 'em you have chest pain with radiation to the left arm, neck, and or back as well. You'll be taken right back.
