I ran into a small problem the other day I was at Best Buy and i found that ahey were selling 80GB hard drives for $40 great deal 😀 so i baought two of them and a friend bought two also, So i get them home and remember that i dont have any more pace in my computer to place them. So i get this great Idea to use cable ties to strap them to my case.

I have the 80's in a RAID 0 configuation which is nice right now because i just lost a 223 RAID a few days ago by having a 120 GB drive die on me :frown: O well live a learn I didnt do a very good job of backing up my computer. 😱
 
as for vibrations, they take the same amout as the other hard drives that are in the bays, both hard drives are secure.

as for data corruption I havent has any problem yet with it.

Velcro-type tie wraps would be easier but i was just using what I had on hand at the time.
 
He he, nice thinking there. I've had to do the same thing on my motorcycle; previous owner cut the rear fender to install an aftermarket item, I decided I didn't want it and tried to replace the item, only it mounts to where the PO cut the fender. A couple of heavy duty zip ties (I'm talking the big ones, 1/2-inch thick mind you), and now it's supported inbetween the rear cradle of the subframe, right under the seat. I'd take pictures, but it's cold in my garage and I'd have to take plastic/seat/etc. off.

Did a 3500 mile trip this year with it like that, no problems at all.

I now also carry about 20 extra regular zip ties with me whereever I go, just in case. Dare I say it: they are better that duct tape. 🙂
 
I have used velcro for that sort of thing many times. Not only is it quick and easy, but you can go in and out with the drive without cutting cable ties. It also dampens vibration.
 
Yep! They are now recommended as luggage locks for flying - that way security can clip them open when necessary. Carry lots of spares.
