Sunday evening going through Downtown LA might have some traffic but other than that there shouldn't be anything.

Where are you coming from? I say this because the 101 is usually called the Ventura Fwy. If you are in fact coming from Camarillo then you would probably be taking the 101 to the 405.

Traffic is really hit or miss, but that at that time on Sunday morning you should be OK.

traffic always sucks.

pick a time. you WILL hit traffic. it's total bullshit.

11am on a saturday? traffic on 405S.

2pm on a sunday? traffic on 110N around downtown.

10east? backed up because of 110 exits.

Los Angeles, I try to drive out west every summer. Anyways, 101 (or as Californians put it; The 101) will be fine in the morning, but in my experience by Noon 101 starts to slow down by the Arroyo Seco Parkway.

I guess I have seven choices to go down to SD. Which would be the least traffic? 10 am on sunday. Have to be in escondido in 2 or 2 1/2 hours.

101 to 5
101 to 405
101 to 10 then 15
101 to 210 then 15s
101 to 60 then 15 s
101 to 91 then 15 s

@ 10AM there should be NO traffic at all along 101 and 5. I go for 7 days in the summer and whenever I drive and for the past 4 years, never a slowdown anywhere. In fact, in 2011 when I went there in June, the two right lanes were closed on I-10 and traffic moved perfectly on a Sunday morning.

Tough to say on the weekend. I'd say it'll take you 2.5 hours if you go 75 with traffic in the usual parts

Be sure to check for dodgers game. You don't wanna take the 5 if there is a game.

Just check google maps traffic before you head out. If you have a smartphone, use the waze app while driving.

I don't expect traffic at that time, but going through downtown is always sketchy

Check for sporting events, Dodger and Angels both get heavy traffic on 5, but 101/5 if all goes well is shortest, fastest, 101/405/5 might be a bit more reliable. The rest of your options are worse.

Good luck with that!

FYI, I grew up in Camarillo and live 10 miles away from there right now. When we go down south we always just take the 101 to the 405. But as others have said, check the traffic on your phone.

Edit: You can make it in that time if there is no traffic. Even if there is traffic it will not be too terribly bad. I just don't like driving the 101 through downtown. It gets kind of confusing,

There is an angels game at 12:35 on sunday. Should I adjust for that?

I would go 101-405-5. Sunday morning there may be some light traffic From Sunset to LAX, but overall it shouldn't be too heavy. If you can get through before 11, there won't be too much traffic.

The carpool lane can be helpful, too.

There is construction on both 5 and 405 south, you are going to hit slowdowns no matter what.

eng2,

I can't PM until I have 25 posts Do you want me to answer here?

The funny thing is I did the 101 to the 5 drive this morning. I much prefer the 405.

I'd take that route and I have extensively in the past when I had a job in Imperial Beach.

You're going to hit some traffic somewhere any route from Ventura to SD more than likely.

Go ahead stopsign and answer here.

Everyone is different so not sure what you are looking for, but Camarillo is actually a very nice town. Pretty quiet and low crime. Great climate. It has a large outlet mall that is a tourist attraction. You are near the ocean and Ventura has some great beaches to go to.

Any questions please feel free to ask.
