Is 10k Lifer or Elite? Or do you have to do something to get elite?

10k==lifer

Elite is something that requires the respect of your peers (someone has to give a good reason for you to be an elite) and people have to support your nomination.

This means that neither you, nor I have a good chance of ever becoming an elite. :(

I would consider myself an ATOT failure if I *ever* get nominated for elite.

Oh that's almost too tempting...

Hey, that's not very nice, Paige! :( :D

Well, since you're a self-interested sig whore, I'm not sure I'm upset. If I wanna give my ING credits to someone I'll give them to an Elite, maybe, or maybe my friend Mark, who could really use the cash...

Wonder if I'm recognized at this point, but only marginally care.

My kind and gracious sir, if I may allow myself the liberty to inquire as to the current state of your discontented bonhomie, I think will be of utmost benefit in a mutual discovery of the nature of your general apathy.

Quite simply, it's the purple oranges.

Truly, let us consider it. Mr Orwell, in a most excellent inspiration said the mark of true genius was being able to hold two opposing ideas at once without going mad. Similarly, Seneca said the truest genius was always marked by a tincture of madness. In pondering the nature of these truths, let us consider the evidence.

1) You are generally marginally caring about the all-important opinion of you on these illustrious forums (and all right thinking men know that the opinions of others should be held superior to any individual sense of good)

2) You are, admittedly, in conflict over the truth of raven lust for oranges, and the truth of their similar disdain for purple oranges.

3) This tete-a-tete leads to outpourings of NEF in order to bring order in the paradox and sooth your mind.

Therefore, you are at least somewhat mad (more so for not considering the opinions of others). Moreover, it is shown by your.. marginal care, as you have said.

Now then, I hope we understand how the purple oranges have laid seige to your mind and how that has led to your present, abominable state.

The only cure, of course, is Cheers ! :)

Ah a ghost!

"Make you to ravel all this matter out,

That I essentially am not in madness,

But mad in craft."

Indeed.

A finer or better present I could not have, than the summoning of this fair spectre.
Thanks for the thoughts linuxboy it reframes my opinion of this forum to know you still take a look see now and then...

at least i'm not "look at me, i'm a wannabe lifer". the sig is for other people's benefits as lots of people are interested in ING but don't know where to get a referral. if it werent for someone's sig in AT, i would have never joined ING with that initial bonus

Now the idea of progress or improvement for progeny leads to placing values on sacrafice, or more correctly, on ego-negation (which is perhaps the real goal of this entire idea). At the same time, in recent times, with the advent and popularization of secularaism and scientism, a real dearth of attention is placed on the mind-body connections and realing dealing with the psychophysical realm of human life. This in turn leads to a slow forgetting that this is important since it is not a priority (we have killed God). >>

I guess I'd like a further examination of the idea of progress as it relates to this discussion. I don't think we have an adequate definition of the term to enable fair discussion.

Are you saying that the idea of progress has replaced the function of spirituality in Western thought? I think a case can be made that for a couple thousand years the two have maintained a seperate and somewhat parallell place in western culture. I can cite Roman philosophy/science and religion as an example of this.

Your thoughts?

Nuh-uh!

At least my first post was vaguely useful :p

I found Win 2k to work fine with B & W with no patch, but I had problems with:
Toca 2
Dungeon Keeper 2
Viper Racing (got a patch though)
Baldurs Gate

Three of those still don't work, and I had a patch for BG but it didn't seem to work, the spec of my machine is fine for them so I think it's a Win 2k problem. (all tried under sp2)

UT, Deus Ex, HL, AOE 2, B & W, Gangsters 2, Thief 2 all work fine for me on Win 2k (sp1 because I haven't updated since a fresh install)
