I need to include the cost of Windows Vista Home Premium 64 bit which is $100 at New Egg. Also, shipping and only pre-mail-in-rebate prices must be included in budget. Shipping to 98037, Lynnwood WA.

I would like 4GB of RAM. I don't want to overclock so stock cooling is fine.

I want to play WoW, Fallout 3, Far Cry 2, Oblivion, etc....

The LCD has already been used, it's a 22" so large resolutions at high frames per second are a must.

Just a plain black case for $25 plus $15 S&H is fine. I'm not into flashy cases at all, just black. The more it disappears into the background the better. Focus on speed.

Quiet is good also, but speed over silence.

Thanks for your suggestions.

Edit: This has absolutely nothing to do with the machine in my signature. No parts from the computer below will be associated with the one I'm building right now.

Usually, the way it works is you pick out the parts and we critique it or offer suggestions!

Anyways the following is a suggestion,

Intel C2D E8400 + Asus P5Q Pro mobo combination on newegg
or you could try Gigabyte EP45-UD3P or UD3R for motherboard
Mushkin Ram 4 gb (2 x 2 gb) DDR2-800 is $37.99 after rebate
4850, GTX 260, etc. for 22"

Not sure about case, someone else will suggest one

Two options:

1) Go spec something out at Newegg
2) Go read the "Attention system builders" thread for concrete recommendations

But in short:
e8400
G.skill 2x2GB DDR2-1000
P5Q Pro (combo with e8400 to save some bucks)
GTX 260 or 4870 512MB
WD6400AAKS
Antec Sonata III (includes EA500 PSU)
DVDRW

Total should be <$750 before rebates. So you could upgrade to a GTX 280 or even a 4870X2 if you want (even though those are overkill for 16x10 on a 22" LCD).

EDIT: Great minds think alike, yours just works faster smithrwon!!

Rofl I forgot about the hard drive.. LOL, yeah the one mentioned by Denithor is good. Why not DDR2-800? Especially if he's not overclocking. Might as well save a little money these days! Sadly for me, I'm using a 4850 on a 24" monitor, but then again I built my PC before my dad bought me the monitor as a gift.

Cause DDR2-1000 is about $10 more and if he decides to go for it overclocking he won't be limited by memory speed.
