$100 Visa Gift Card for signing up for Charles Schwab CC

last time around with the $150 GC almost no one reported getting an instant approval unless you called by telephone. All reports of applying on the net were the same -- that message saying an instant decision cannot be provided at this time.

No one has reported an instant decision online but many reports of an instant decision by telephone.

None the less, you will probably be approved with the online application it just takes a week or so and you'll get the card. I have a Schwab brokerage account and was able to log onto that and see that the Card had been approved just a few hours after applying online.

wtf?

I got the same thing. I just decided to wait and not call because I hate the telephone. A week later my card arrived. Three or so months later, my gift card arrived. As a precaution, I did print up the application including the rules about the gift card. Fortunately, I never had to call as the gift card came in timely fashion.

what do you suppose the chances are for someone to get in on both deals (the $150 from before and this one)? I don't see anything expressly prohibiting this, but you'd think that would be the first thing they'd put in the fine print.

....and yes, i AM a greedy mofo =]

i got in on the last $150 offer and spent it on a 2005fpw. 😉 but i'm kinda wondering how they are paying for all of this. like, what's it costing me? my credit's good (700+) and i have about 10 credit cards/accounts. so like people said before, a new credit card isn't necessarily a bad thing. in fact, it shows that lenders are able to trust you with their money.

on the other hand, i would advise against cancelling the card immediately, for those with new/little credit history. the longer you have accounts open, the more you're helping build your credit history. that's what i gather from a variety of sources anyway.

maybe its a gamble for them, hoping you charge and charge and can't pay on time, = late fee and interest.

Credit cards make money on both ends, they hit the merchants for about 5%, and the customers for interest and penalties.

I don't think number of cards is a big factor, making a bunch of applications in a short amount of time might put up a red flag, or at least it should. Two things are the main concern with other accts, outside the obvious making timely payments, total debt, and total maximum credit of all the accts combined. So owing $1k on each of 3 cards that have a $3k limit is about the same as owing $3k on one card with a $9k limit.

Sheesh, I just opened a Dell CC account yesterday, and asked on here if it'll hurt my credit score. Now I'm seriously considering opening a new CC to get this deal too 🙁

You should not be denied for any card with that ratio. Have made ur payments on time? ever paid interest on anything??
You might wanna pay a lil to get ur credit report...if www.annualcredireport.com doesnt give it to u for free yet. I have to wait itll next month for that.
