My nephew would like to upgrade his socket 1155 system with a possible Sandy/Ivy bridge xeon processor off ebay.
Any anadtech suggestions for his best bang for the buck options. I believe the current processor is a 2.9Ghz G220.
thanks!

On eBay, the i7 2600 can be found for little more than $100. It's a lot more power hungry than an Ivy Bridge i5 would be, but easily the best performance per dollar for the socket. Otherwise, you're looking at getting an Ivy i5 or Xeon equivalent.

wow yeh, seeing a few 2600Ks for between $80-100, looks like this is the way to go and not even mess with the xeons....

i5-3570 for $75-$85 (if you want pci-e 3.0 and lower power consumption) or i7-2600 for $100 to $120 if you want bang for the buck.
