Yeah I try not to take it out on the waiter. More often than not its the managers fault, not his.

Yeah, I have been to places where our waiter was obviously over worked, running 7 or 8 tables at once that sort of thing. I wont take off from my tip for things like that. Now if the waiter is just taking his/her time and being really lazy and not obviously working other tables, I will subtract from the tip.

It's unfortunate that when we have collective opportunities as a people to all lose perspective and punish others for our miserable lives, someone has to come along and put a smile on someone's face. More stories like this, and I just may lose hope, on losing hope.

Site doesn't load anything for me but the article title and what looks to be a slide show (without any pictures), due to the content filter at work.

However, I can't think of a single situation where bad service would not be the fault of the server or the kitchen, and the manager except if you think the manager is responsible for not training the staff or keeping around bad ones.

The entire idea of tipping is rewarding for good service or a favorable experience. If that is not the case, tipping is pointless. You're just giving extra money because. Maybe it makes you feel good, I don't know?

With that said, I generally tip certain people regardless of any standard of service. Valet drivers get a tip no matter what.

Stupid people doing nice things doesn't make them less stupid. If the service is that bad you get up and leave. Why would you give your money to a restaurant that operates that way? Have a little respect for yourself, demand better and patronize those who can deliver your food competently and on time.

I would suggest reading the article first then.

This was either the manager's fault or the rest of the staff pulling a group sick day.

It's an okay gesture. But it's a short-lived joy.

Like we had a new restaurant open in my town earlier this year. I've tried to like it and support it, but the service is always very slow and the food is significantly below par. Last time there the waitress had a table next to us blow up on her from a confusion over the bill's dollar amount (the waitress was right and the customers were wrong, but a big angry scene and a storming out of the building occurred). We gave a few extra dollars on the tip, but it's like okay, here's a few dollars today, you're still screwed staying with this job because we're not coming back ever.

I don't know. Maybe it's better for the person to be forced to seek out work elsewhere sooner rather than later.

It's too bad the servers have to tip out everyone else based on percentage.

Hmm, the $100 tip was indeed a nice gesture by the couple and I'm glad they recognized that the server was working really hard and the blame couldn't really be put on him.

However, I feel like this would have been better if the server had posted the generous gift he received, rather than the couple post it and "brag" about it. I put brag in quotes b/c yes, they said in the FB post they weren't looking for a pat on the back, but something still seems braggy about it. Again, would make more sense if the server posted it.

yes, they were looking for kudos. You don't post stuff like that unless you are. "SEE I'M A GOOD PERSON!"

But...whatever, they helped the person out.

Could it be how they posted a pic of how big their tip was on social media and gave interviews to news organizations?

WHO SAID IT WASN'T? Was the table before the 11 other tables and was made to wait 20 minutes for waters because the server decided to let the other 11 tables CUT in front of their turn? Did the server FORGET to put in their orders or wait too long to put in their orders on purpose to CUT?

I am not sure WHERE You get it's not the server's fault?

Who's your other account?

You obviously didn't listen to the people's statement.

EPIC FAIL!

Why would someone be STUPID enough to pay for SOMEONE ELSE'S SERVICES in their tip? That's just STUPID.

I watched the video. You weren't there to know who was at fault or wasn't. If you are at the 1st table, 11 others are seated one after the other after you. If your server decides to take all the other 11 table's drink and appetizer orders along with even possibly having a table or two ready to fully order their entrees, do you realize how long you'd wait for a couple of glasses of water if your server CUTS like that? 20 minutes for some water, I think the server could have done better with turns. Something tells me the server CUT.

Well here's the thing. The server should be working just as hard as they normally should be. Sure the service would suck but they have way more people. So crappier service, but way more people. Lots of small tips for the same work but the tips are made up for in quantity. So nobody is a bad person for leaving a small tip. The server would probably still come out more ahead than normal just by all the people they have to serve.

It doesn't work this way.

The folks ate $66 bucks as a couple prior to tip. This ain't a Friday's/Applebees/etc type of place.

I am sure that couple saw people leaving a penny and other bad things.

Back in the day when delivery was becoming popular I worked Chinese food and we were next door to a Domino's pizza.

The pizza guys almost always got just the change rounded up...less than $1 per order.

I averaged $3 a delivery. I did much less mileage and work and made more money.

"Who said it wasn't"

Would you give someone 100 dollars if you thought it was their fault?

LOL dumbass
