100$ Range For AGP Video Card...

For new: search at newegg.com from $88 to $131 with Interface set to AGP 4x/8x

Geforce 6600GT
$130, Leadtek, Item #: N82E16814122206

Radeon X1600Pro
$110, Sapphire, Item #: N82E16814102666
$115, Powercolor, Item #: N82E16814131427
$116 Gecube, Item #: N82E16814241016

Used you could probably get a 6600GT or plain 6800 for under $100 in the FS/FT forum here.

IIRC, the X1600Pro only performs slightly better or equal to the 6600GT. If you look on the FS/T forum here, you can get a pretty good deal on a 6600GT, or just about any used AGP card. Look around.

What would you get ... a 90.00 oem ati 9800 pro or a 6600 gt at 110. Are they similiar in performance?

I'd definatly prefer the 6800GT. They're two diffrent generations. 16 pixel pipelines versus 4 is a huge diffrence between the two.

7600 GS AGP just came out for ~$159. I also regard the X1600 Pro as a decent card.

Although, that X800 XL for $120 can't be beat.

6600 GT is a nice card. You can get them used on ebay for a decent price. I got my FX5900xt off ebay for around 60 bucks. I play UT2K4 in 1024x768 with all the setting on max detail and rarely get any lag at all.

I have to play in Medium detail in SilkRoadOnline though.

q3 urban terror it eats alive.

What kind of games are you wanting to play with your card is a big question to ask yourself.

I also left out that when I went from 512 MB to 1.5 GB of RAM it felt like a new computer when playing games like Doom3, and Quake 4. I felt like it was literally a new computer. So make sure you have atleast 1 GB of main memory for new games.

1 GB is sufficent enough. 2 GB hits the sweetspot for games like WoW, and I even hear BF2.

You guys are idiots, the OP already made up his mind and went with the 6600gt. The $120 x800xl deal was posted to late, that would have been the best recommendation anyways. But the rest of you.......i count 10 posts after the OP already had announced his decision recommending him different options.....seriously read the thread fully before you post. gg kthx.

hey a$$hole, is it offensive if we give him our opinions and deals? i dont think so...man, some people around here are just mean.

uhhhh wtf offensive? When did i say it was offensive? Im saying its f*ckin stupid for you to be posting AFTER the OP already made up his mind. His thread was started for a reason, to get advice on which card to get, so what exactly would be the point after he already made a decision to keep posting him recommendations.....I guess if thats what you find joy in doing then go for it. Your probably the one to bring back old threads from the dead just cuz u felt like adding a post that just crossed your mind.
