Just got the latest catelogue in the mail and on the back was a coupon... Free 100pk of CDs or some tax program, with the coupon and a $50 purchase. The coupon is only on the catelogue you get in the mail.. it's not available instore.

Hmmm ... the coupon on the back of my MicroCenter mail catalog is only good for free (after any $50purchase) Kiplinger's Tax Cut software. There is no 100pk of CD-R's anywhere in the catalog. There is a 50pk of 16X, 80min. or 74min. (your choice) for $14.95 on the front page. On the inside front page, they also have a 50pk of 16X, 80min. TDK's for $16.99.

You definately have to get the flyer in the mail to take advantage of the free CDR spindle with any purchase. I got it here in Dallas. Bought a dual jewel case for 17 cents and got the cdr spindle for free!

That's interesting, because I talked to someone at MC corporate (they're located here, and have several stores as well), and they said the only freebie is the tax software, which as I reported earlier, and Gogeeta13 also confirmed, is what is printed on the snail mail flyers we received. I've never heard of MC doing a "regional-specific sale", but I guess there's always a first. Would be interesting to see what people in other MC locations are receiving, as far as what sales flyer they are getting. I have received their mail flyers since literally Day One, I bought an IBM PC from them on their opening day in the very first store they ever opened ...

This had to be a big thing in the Dallas area, as I saw quite a few people getting the CDR spindle, with the flyer. The checkout guy seemed kinda annoyed I was only buying a 17 cent item and getting 100 CDR's for free, but screw them. I never have liked MicroCenter.
