pothead - "The deal ends this Sunday: 36-12 rebate = 24- $7 instant = final of 14ish-15ish..."

Last time I checked...24-7 = 17...I dunno where you learned your math.

Well... we know that TDK buys from various sources, and this deal seems no different. You just have to look b4 you buy.

"Made in Japan" + Screw-on knob on top = T-Y

"Made in Taiwan" + NO knob = Ritek

Actually, I have had excellent success with TDKs and, going back with CDR Identifier, I find that all of them are Riteks. I may get some anyway.

Okay, I just went back to Costco, and I can clarify some things:

* Pothead, the extra $7 you got back was for the pack of 24x discs, NOT 32x discs. The extra $7 rebate is clearly for those discs, which are made in Taiwan and are indeed Ritek's. However, that's not what we're talking about here. There is no extra $7 rebate on the 32x discs.

* All of the 100packs that were one single pack of 100 CDR's were indeed "Made in Japan" -- Taiyo Yuden. There were also several 100-packs that were two 50-packs (side by side) shrinkwrapped together, and those were Made in Taiwan -- Ritek. Be sure you're looking for the single-wrapped 100 pack, and make sure it says Made in Japan.

I just bought these at Costco yesterday and it stated that these are replacements for the 24X. The register printed out my rebate and it's already been mailed. It says made in Japan over the upc. Total cost was around $18 after the in store coupon and rebate. This is a Costco rebate, I don't think there will be the slightest problem. I always receive them in 4-6 weeks.

Codfish: So they gave you the extra $7 off, even on the 32x pack? Were there 24x's left in your store? My store has a huge display, half 32x and half 24x, with different signs for both (and it says the extra $7 off is only for the 24x).

If you can get them to give you the extra $7 off the 32x pack, this is a very hot deal.

All they had was the 32X in the store. With the coupon they must have sold out quickly of the 24X stock. There was a big sign saying that the 32X were ok for the rebate. This was in the Hazlet store. You have to remember that over 90% of the people who buy computer stuff at Costco think they are always getting great deals. Like I said before, the rebate printed right out from the register.

Speaking of great deals, I lurked here a long time. I would just just like to thank you guys and gals for saving and costing me so much money. :)

Man this sucks. I went to Costco last night to pick up a wagon wheel (18" pepperoni & sausage pizza for $10.36) and was going to check on the TDK's again but they were sold out.

I went to get ones at target but they didnt have any, so I went to best buy and they have 50 packs for 24.99 and 100 packs for 44.99, the ones I got are Fujifilm 24x made in japan with a weird white knob thing on top, so i assume they are what u spoke of. I am sure its possible to get them cheaper but i dont really care as long as they work good.

Just came back from costco w/ the 32x ones.. (made in japan) But they also had lots of the Taiwan ones (24x).. The coupon shows 24x, but it's actually for both.. the rebate that prints out even shows the correct item # on the 32x's box (#427204).. So I guess whichever one u buy is wut's gonna print.. The taiwan ones and the japan ones looks very similar.. Lucky I went back a 2nd time to check! Look for them (Made in Japan 100pk).. dig if you have to.. shoot.. they're there (most likely). BTW, they're both (Japan & Taiwan) 100pk spindles.. not the 50/50 ones.

I was at CostCo today using the last of the 2/18 - 2/24 coupons and saw these CD-Rs. Picked up a single 100 pack and they said MADE IN TAIWAIN :(

Glad I didn't buy them. Had them been Made in Japan I'd have to somehow buy them without my wife knowing.

<< The 100 pack I saw was in New York. All made in Japan. >>

I second what monty said. The Costo in New York does indeed have the 100 pack mfc. by TY. My cousin bought a pack from them for $36 - $7 coupon - $12 rebate= $17 for 100 pack. I got a test from her just to test with my plextor 2410a and the cdidentifier says TY type 1. It even burns at 24x!! :) It's not like the old batch that I got from TheWiz a while ago that only burns at 16x. The wierd thing is that it doesn't have the conventional screwon knob we're use to look for. It seems to be packed like Ritek-style but in one whole stack of 100 instead of 2 50-spindle packs.
I think I'll grab a spindle myself -- I just need to find that $7 coupon for it. Can someone PM me it please?

Thanx

if I'm not mistakin'.. the coupon expired yesterday (sunday).. dunno about the rebate.. and plus I don't think they'll accept a printout of the coupon. If you're a costco member you should've gotten the coupon booklet.

If anyone's seen these in Seattle, could you let me know where (and when)? I PM'd Punkrock about this, but didn't receive a response.

Thanks a lot!
