Question....

if you have a 650MB/74min compatible drive...can you use 700mb/80min CDRs in that drive for burning purposes ? Even if it will only burn 650MB that is fine,,,but can u simply use them or not ?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but . . .

From my reading it seems that most drives can burn 700MB as well as 650MB. The only time you run into trouble is with "older" drives. I'm unsure what a list of those would be. My drive is rather old and it burns 700MB fine. Memorex 1622 2x with the firmware upgraded. Maybe others will be of more help.

I just tried calling on this. The operator said the promotion has been disconinued (in the last five minutes--damn my laundry!). He said they're unlikely to order more on it and this is the official end.

Anyone got a different story?

I called on this...they are out of the spindles. They still have the free Tax Cut program with a purchase, refer to the link from FATWALLET posted in the initial post to get the sku on that, though they said they were getting low on those as well. I asked bout the 3/31/01 end of promotion date, and she pointed out the 'While Supplies Last' fine print. Damnit.
