100 or 133 FSB?

Hi - I just bought a new Athlon 1.1 Ghz CPU on an MSI MS-6389 motherboard which is a mobo made for Gateway.

Right now the FSB jumper on the mobo is set at 133 Mhz. That's the way it arrived.

Question - Should I leave it at 133 Mhz or set the FSB jumper to 100 Mhz?

Thanks for any help you can offer.

Joe

Well that depends , what does the machine boot up as ?

1100 Mhz or 1463 Mhz ???

if the multiplyer is locked at 11 i guess it should be on a 100 mhz bus ( if you don't want to overclock )

Thanks for responding. Right now the jumper on the motherboard is set at 100 Mhz. I am still putting the PC together.

Since u r still putting in those parts...take a quick look at the core. Is it a "B" or a "C" version. Tht should tell u which default FSB u should set.

🙁

and before you ask where this is located, look at the top line of the CPU stepping code

Hi - that's what I am not sure of.

I looked at the FSB jumper on the motherboard again. It's actually set for 100 Mhz, not 133 Mhz as I first thought.

-snip to move here - and before you ask where this is located, look at the top line of the CPU stepping code -

I am not sure where to look.

Thanks

Yup. Tht's another way to find out. If u set @ 100 FSB & the PC didn't boot up as Athlon 1.1Ghz. Simply change the FSB to 133. Simple.
