Nope, because I'd be shocked if you actually ran mid-12's on your first time at the track. 😉

Launching can be tricky - my first time at the drag strip with my Forester, I ran 14.7 @ 98mph and 13.65 @ 100mph. The run is really made in the launch.

my daughter asked me how it was possible for the losing car to have a higher top speed. the one she noticed was a horrible launch for a vette, but he caught up at the end and was only a tenth away from winning.

the one i was at ended up with a couple 8 second cars, which were very awesome to watch. they didnt race anyone else but each other, the closest to them was a ford ranger doing 10.38. i was surprised at how many stock cars there were there, lots of 15-18 second runs. there were a few bikes running in the 10s too, pretty neat. for 10 bucks you cant go wrong.

Sweet! Now get sticky tires and get into the 13's 😉

What track did you run? I was going to take the MR2 to Speedworld last week but it threw a CEL, so I'm going to fix that first.

I'm more interested to see what the car can do instead of what I can do. I know I suck at launching and driving. Still have a few boost issue to take care of, and then I'm sure the car will do even better.

Speedworld, http://speedworlddragstrip.com/site/, find a night with 1 event, and you can get 7-9 runs in an hour. DO NOT GO TO FIREBIRD if you want to race. You'll wait 2 hours just to get to the first race and have a car broken down right in front of you.

hehe i go to firebird more than anywhere, and youll see the same cars doing runs all night. there was a mustang that blew something on the track and they stopped for 10 minutes to surface clean it, but thats about it. usually there is very little down time on that track that ive seen.

My times suck but its not exactly a race car 🙂

Pulled 16-17s at around 80-85MPH last time i hit the track, thats launching in 4wd and kicking it down to 2wd as soon as the wheelspin stopped.

1984 chev 3/4ton 4x4 with a 350 and a turbo 400 trans, brand new mud tires not so hot for launching either.

My old '83 Mustang GT made it, having run a best pass of 12.8 @109MPH, back in '92. I think my '12 Shelby GT500 would have no trouble either.

My car (97 Miata) obviously can't, but I'd be suprised if my bike (95 Duc 900SS/CR) couldn't

Can't yet bust 100 in my 9000+lb gasser Econoline... She just weighs too much with the lowered floor and scary heavy wheelchair lift.

Clearly, you just need a better minivan. May I suggest a Renault Espace? As you can see it's quite a bit faster than any Econoline(and I used to drive an E350SD lawnsprinkler truck): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eaW_35KPDBY
