100 mini-CDRs $16 at Microcenter

I was just about to post this. They've also got them available as individual ones with jewel case for .69 a piece. Surprisingly, the mini cd-s are pretty good quality. CD-R Identifier shows them as long dye strategy MFG by CMC Magnetics.
 
Are these bulk packed without cases?

I assume so, just wanted to make sure.

Great for burning drivers. Sure to stand out in a sea of other CD-R's.

Only if they were DVDs. And you figured out some way to make them spin backwards when you burn them.

Just got back from Microcenter today 3/3/02 and this deal is still good....they are made by KHypermedia and are sold in shrink wrap.

If I'm not mistaken, I believe that you would simply have to create some sort of software to decode the information backwards and then burn the DVD backwards, meaning that the Gamecube would spin it backwards but it would still be reading forwards..........you understand??
 
Does anyone know whether these mini-CDs will play in a car's CD-player?

I have neither a car, nor a car CD-Player, so I can't test it out for myself.

I'd appreciate someone letting me know. Thanks.
 
Unless you have a tray loaded car cd then NO. I've never seen a tray load car CD or a Slot loader that will suck these babies in without refusing to let them out. Really wish they had these in CD-RW they'd make an awesome Floppy replacement for the size, and maybe even a ZIP-250 replacement.
 
Most CD CD Players will - YES WILL - play the 3 inch cd's. Even my old Alpine of about 10 years ago would.

From a $/Mb standpoint, this isn't a great deal (since CMC is also the company
that makes Imation which are cheaper than this), but aren't these discs used
in some of the newer digital cameras or camcorders? I know they look cute,
but aren't practical for music and since they hold less data, except for making
them easy to distinguish from full size discs, I'd prefer to just use normal
blanks even if they are only 20% full.
 
They may not be a great deal $/Mb if all you are using them for is music, but I've found that mini's are worth their weight in gold for my purpose.
I use a multimedia presentation to get buisness. I've found that when I put this presentation on a mini CDR, with some sample stuff, it's been Extreemly effective.
For some reason or another, people are much more likely to put the mini in their computer & take a look at what's on it, than they are with a normal CD.
 
The Sony Mavica camera uses the mini-CDR. A part number or stock number would be great. I looked for it on their website and couldnt find it either. I called the closest store to me and the lady had no idea what I was talking about (probably new).

mini discs are still a novelty, relatively speaking. you see regular sized discs all the time when you buy music, dvds, vcds, software, etc. you don't see mini ones that often. heck, even aol is getting on this gimmick 🙂
 
This sale price ended yesterday. They're up to $50 now.

As for why buy them, cuteness counts for a lot. They're great for making little 4 or 5 song EPs for friends.

Does anyone else know of any good deals on mini-CDrs?

Oh, and Darkcirc, they do make mini-CD-RWs. I saw some at Microcenter.
