$100 Ipod Mini at Fry's? SUPER HOT!!!

I just got word from a from a friend in Vegas that the Ipod Mini was for $100. He said there was a couple rows of pink one's. Can anyone confirm this in any other areas?

wrong. if fry's were selling ipods at that price, apple operatives would move in and buy every single unit off the shelf and refuse to sell them anymore. it is called price protection--levi's used to be notorious for mystery shopping vendors and doing the very same tactics. the only way to maintain their ludicrous pricing is to heavily regulate it with similar tactics.

Apple's margin is 20%, meaning they COST Apple $200 to make. Those little drives are not cheap. $100 sounds bogus.

basically everything apple sells is at 50% margin. so if it is $250 on their website, it costs $125 to make. $100 is still under cost so it is probably bogus.

As lame as the deal sounds, Fry's has been known to sell SOME things way below cost to bring customers in (I.E. any of the ECS combos or those Polk Audio R50 speakers for $200 a pair :Q). So although I highly doubt it's true, it wouldn't completely surpise me either.

BTW, your example ($125 to make, MSRP of $250) would actually be a 100% margin, 50% of 125 is 62.5 which would make it only $187.50 MSRP...
