Got this in the mail, signed up for it. It's an AT&T Universal Rewards card (from Citi) with NO annual fee, etc etc...0% balance x-fer/0% intro APR till 8/05 (nice for my x-mas gifts). I'm hoping this is an OK thread for the forum, lemme know if it's not-I dont get squat outta this (not a referral, etc)...

Scan Linky - Thanks for hosting, RossMan

Picture shows an RCA Lyra player, no other info...fine print says: "You will receive 10,000 bonus ThankYou Points which will post to your account within 3 months of your account opening. You must redeem your bonus points within 4 months from when the points post to your account before the MP3 player offer expires. Call the toll free number (1-800-423-4343) if you have questions regarding whether the bonus points have posted to your account."

More GCs (**Denominations for most from $25 to $100**):
Old Navy, Macy's, Blockbuster, Foot Locker, Pizza Hut, Radioshack, Target, Potterybarn, Banana Rep., Applebees, Avis, Budget, Chili's, Olive Garden, TGI Fridays, Red Lobster, Bennigans, Hard Rock Cafe, Dillards, Pier 1, Sharper Image, JC Penny, Sears, Eddie Bauer, K-mart, CompUSA, Waldenbooks, Lands' End, LL Bean, Hyatt, Marriott, Bath & Body Works, Omaha Steaks, a few more.

Whew, lotta typing. Hope everybody enjoys!

Well the guy has been around for 4 years so I think he *could* be trusted... idk though, sounds tempting... TOO tempting

Rossman, seeing you with the blonde icon is making me do a double-take every single time I run past your posts.

Title says 100 gc? Its late so maybe I missed it in some fine print?

Read the OP's entire post.

You receive 10,000 MyPoints within 3 months of opening your new cc. Cash out the 10,000 points = $100 GC

Well you are limited to what kind of GC you can get

Home Depot
Circuit City
Compusa
Best Buy
Mobil / Exxon.

but that's a big enough list for me, this thread just reminded me to cash mine in.

Not yet. I'm going to check tomorrow's SmartSource insert in the newspaper.

After I see this and read all the fine print - I'm applying. So is the wife 🙂

Got it from my Sunday paper (Freeport Journal Standard, Freeport, IL)...this week's SmartSource insert doesn't have any great offers. I'm updating the list of where you can get a GC from (in the main post), as taken from the universalcard.com site. Fine print mentions no "one per household" or anything so my entire family's gettin this card.

Interesting... so do you get the MP3 player free as well as the 10,000 points?

Does anyone know the kind of credit check they do? For say, a jobless college student with good credit? I remember I got denied from the AMX Blue Cash Card few months ago... 🙁

It's ok. Amex denies everybody.

No, just the 10k points...I honestly didn't even see an MP3 player as an option to use the points on...but I'm pretty sure I can get somethin better than an RCA Lyra at CC/BB for $100.

Why not join Citi Diamond instead?
You get 5% back for gas, drugstore, and supermarket.
You also get discount for GC.
Points are redeemable for those GC mentioned as well.

That's nice, but irrelevant.

As the OP says, it's because you get 10K FREE points to get a FREE $100 GC with this card. You could also get a Citi Diamond in addition to this one.

Just read the scan again. This card also gives 5% reward points for the same categories to spend on GC's.

Wow... I've never been turned down for a credit card app before... but tonight I was turned down 3 times, not because of my credit, but because NONE of the 3 CSR's that I spoke to knew what offer I was referring to. After speaking to a supervisor who also did not know what I'm referring to, I cut my losses to 30 minutes of wasted life.

If anyone has faced the same issue or is successful, please post.

I applied last week, didn't need any codes or anything... hopefully I get approved (I'm unemployed).

When I talked to them over the phone I think they said it would take something like 3 weeks or 3 months or SOME ammount of time for the points to show up. Just FYI...

See my OP.

funny..have had credit cards for years... about 2 years ago paid them all off.... big money... got rid of all of them... anyway, i heard about a $30 offer from amazon if you sign up, so i applied thinking i could get a new keyboard and save a few bucks and then ditch the card... after i submitted enrollment it said that they would have to review it further....go figure... must need some credit card debt to get one....
