my little cousin has this, it's OKAY, there are a LOT of repeat of games

i would suggest spending the money for an xbox mod, but i guess that might be illegal so don't do it

1) This was $30 at the mall
2) Those games are Nintendo games. But this isn't a Nintendo Box. Hmmmm
 
If you live near DOwntown LA you can pick these up for 13-15 bucks each. I howeve didn't like them do to poor quality.
 
Nintendo actually won the case against the piraters of this junk. they will prolly be all given away evetually, they are like toys from pic'n'save. haha

I think it depends where you live. In California it's about $20, everywhere else the price seems to be $50 and up.

What do you mean by poor quality? The game, or the hardware? The demos I've seen at the mall, the games look as good as I remember them.

Haha you might get tekken alright but its not gonna be what you expect! I bought one of these at a local dollar store here (I live about 5 miles N of mexican border) and you can find these EVERYWHERE here for about 15-20 bucks. It is an Nintendo emulator, that is EXACTLY what it is. There are some decent games in there, mario bros, duck hunt, hogans alley, contra and some other stuff. but there is only about 50 or so, and most of them are crap, and repeated about 100 times so it LOOKS like you're getting 70000 games.

It's decent but I wouldn't pay 50 bucks for it. I don't mean to thread crap because I like it, it's a good little system for my step-daughter to get into video games. Go to any flea market and you'll probably see some people selling them and you can demo them out and buy cheaper.

of course all you shut-ins would be best served ordering it online 😉 just my 2 cents
 
There was an atricle on /. about these and how nintendo is asking people to send them the links of places selling them cause it is highly illegal, and to my suprise many people have responded to nintendo's requests. But if you have bought one and know how crappy they are then you would probably respond too cause they sell for 50 bucks but are worth about 3 dollars.
 
Well, the build quality isn't the greatest, but this is essentially a gray market product.

Having said that, and understanding it as such, I bought a couple off of eBay a couple years ago for like $25 each.

But I knew what I was buying and was happy as such. Pirated Nes games, as mentioned. Kinda neat to have and pretty well suited to light occasional use. The one I have even run on batteries which makes it pretty nice for a car video system.

You want to order from your keyboard I have to recommend eBay for this one.

The carts selling these things at my local mall wanted $60 for them. 🙁
If it was only $30, I might have considered. Anyways, they are illegal, and Nintendo has recently started cracking down on them. I read something on (I think, CDRInfo) in Nov. about it.
 
i agree with the guy who said mod ur xbox. its just as illegal, its cheaper, and its far more effective.

I was playing SMB (v1) at the mall on one of these on Monday night. The emulation was pretty good but the controller sucked. Couldn't run and duck/slide everytime you'd push down it would either stop running or not 'duck'. The guy wanted $59.95 for it... I said 'That's a lot, maybe another time.'.

I've been tempted to report them to Nintendo for some time, but, I really don't care.

Softwareandstuff is where I go whenever I feel like I need some new random crap to play with. 😀 I've ordered from them for about 2-3 years now, and never had a single problem. Shipping can be a bit high for my tastes but other items are free s/h. Never had to deal with them in person on the phone, but I guess that's a good thing. 🙂 I stand behind them as a nice source for some computerish and not-so-computerish stuff.

Why would someone buy this when you can buy a used Dreamcast for $15 and download home-brew emulators/games as good or WAY better than the games that come with this?

Interesting idea, but $50 for $5 worth of fun doesn't sound hot, imo.
