P.S. what's the deal with AT&T brand CD's? I've never seen those before but such obvious licensing is really bordering on lunacy. While it might seem a great idea in the boardroom, I assure corporate America that I, for one, am generally suspicious of such products -not unlike "GE" electronics and appliances and "Sears" services. The increasing desperation of corporate marketing is so sad. But I digress... :disgust:
The last deal BB had for AT&T CDRs, the check was sent by Verbatim.

You got your check already? The last deal for AT&T CD-R's ended only a few days ago!

Well, from my understanding Taiyo Yuden is the ONLY CD-R manufacturer in Japan so................

Lately that's been true for me too. I have seen Fujis made in Taiwan, but that's been a couple years ago.

All of the many Fujis I've bought from BB online have been made in Japan, by Taiyo Yuden.

Mitsui is another Japanese CDR company.

AFAIK, Japanese-made CDR's generally have a good reputation for quality.

Hmmm......I have never heard of them. Do they make CD-Rs for anyone else to relabel that I might know about? Are they even available in the US at retail stores?

Perhaps I'm not as much of a CD-R aficionado, but my Imation 100pks seem to work just fine at 48x, and they're on sale for $14.99 June 1-7 Instantly. Other than coasters, is there some other feature I should care about for CDRs?

I was debating whether to go for OfficeMax's $15 deal on Verbatims or this one. The free shipping on the BB deal clinched it for me. I'd rather not have to drive for discs. :)

Here's a link to the rebate certificate on the BB website.

Don't know if they sell relabels or not, or even how available they might be at B&M's. You can get them online, but the BB Fuji price is so good that I've never gone to great lengths to hunt down Mitsui.

Supposedly, the Mitsui Gold discs are top-notch, cream of the crop. But the price -- ouch!

I've always received my rebates from fuji, so I'm happy with waiting for the rebate. Also has anyone noticed the new spindle casing compared to the old Fuji's? What happened to the top lock? Don't really like this new case since I have to lift the entire spindle in order to hold the bottom to unlock the cover.

C1 & C2 error. Low quality discs can have more, and/or be more prone to developing them over time. This can lead to unreadable blocks on the CD. Bye bye data.

Link

With poor media, I've seen an SVCD look fine initially. After ~8 months, when I went back to watch it on the same DVD player, there were glitches and artifacts in the video in certain spots. Checked the disc and it was loaded with C2 errors and unreadable blocks. I don't know what the original error level was, but I assume it degraded substantially over that short period of time.

My BB rebate came through so it took 4 weeks since I mailed it. As said the Fuji one took 3. Not too shabby. :)

Is the OfficeMax deal B&M only? I couldn't find the 100pk of Imations on their website to order (only saw it in the weekly catalog posting)

For whatever reason, the SKU for the 100pk isn't listed online so I'm assuming it's in store only. My store has been sold out since last week's deal, so YMMV, if you ask about it an OfficeMax manager will substitute two 50pks of Imation. Hope that helps.

Cheers
