Other important points: From the FAQ
Will you charge for FreeSSL next year?
FreeSSL is available for no charge the first year. FreeSSL customers will be charged a small fee for their yearly renewal.
Will FreeSSL be compatible with more Web browsers in the future?
FreeSSL will soon be compatible with additional browsers like Netscape. FreeSSL's browser compatibility is growing at approximately 2% per month (in 12 months FreeSSL will have approximately 95% compatibility).
It would appear that it is ONLY compatible with Internet Explorer 5.01 and up. Therefore users of Netscape, Opera, Mozilla, etc. will be left out in the cold. Moreover they don't state WHAT the fee will be when its fully available. It's also nice to note that in 12 months time (when you will be paying) FreeSSL will have 95% compatability.
Still, if you are interested in playing around with SSL and learning the ins and outs of how it works then this would be the best way to go about doing it.
Good post... thanks for being a bloodhound.
