The third-party service, Premium Cronut Delivery, which is not affiliated with the bakery, charges a whopping $100 for delivering a single Cronut, $200 for two, or $3,000 for 10 of the pastries. At the bakery, Cronuts sell for $5 each.

Now I'm really tempted to experiment. I suppose if you keep the oil at a low enough temp. Or, make them smaller like TimBits/Donut Holes. I know what I'm doing this weekend. :sneaky:

Nvm, it was only trademarked.

The bakery has trademarked "Cronut'' with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and internationally. The $5 Cronuts, which are limited to six per person, have become a sensation to the point where Ansel's staff is working overtime and the demand has brought out the ugly side in ravenous customers.

There's a limit on how many you can buy. Used to be 6 per person, now it's 2 (according to the article). Gonna need more than one person in the line, that's for sure... probably at least 5 in order to not have to have a box with a mix of fresh and day-old cronuts

A cruller is just essentially an egg doughnut as far as I can tell. Damn delicious, but presumably quite different (I have not yet tried a cronut, so can't say for sure how different).

had a knockoff one. It's ok, certainly not worth $5 and an hour in line for. I don't think its "better" than the traditional donut, the texture is vastly different and it's comparing apples to oranges.

Certainly not the same as a croissant + donut for all the people out here. It's very different.
