I'm often getting 100% CPU usage while I'm printing, is this normal? I have an HP Deskjet 632C printer, Windows XP Pro, and an Athlon T-Bird @ 1.2Ghz..

I don't know if this is normal or not, and if it isn't how should I fix it (if it's possible)?

Also: My printer is hooked up through an LPT port and not USB even though my printer can support USB.

yes, this is perfectly normal.... printers that use the LPT (parallel ports) are inherently like this ...
i have a 2ghz pentium 4, and it still uses 100% of my cpu, sometimes even stalling my computer for like a split second...

USB, of course, solves this problem

I bought a USB to Centronics (Printer) cable for just this reason. Win2K still detected and installed my printer just fine, only on USB001 instead of LPT1.

No problems at all!

The printer at work uses the parallel port. The computer becomes almost unuseable while it's printing. The fact that it's a 366MHz Celery with 32M RAM running NT4.0 doesn't help either.
