These isn't a sale price but I figured I would post a quick topic since I looked everywhere for cheap chips. If someone finds this item cheaper, let me know.

On Ebay you can buy large quantities of full weight, clay chips for roughly $0.15 - $0.25/chip, shipped.
This seemed pricey still, so I looked around forever and ended up buying some cheap rack from Walmart for $18 by Cardinal and they didn't feel real at all.

Then I found a metal tin at Toys R Us for $10 by the same company. They look the same and might be plastic (I can't confirm) but they feel like real chips, sound like real chips, and weigh as much as real chips. I have a few leftovers from my last Vegas trip to compare with.

These chips are also available online (Amazon), but shipping kills the deal.

Edit: This product contains 25 each: red, blue, green white for a total of 100 chips and a white 'DEALER' button.

Thanks Dan-- been eyeing up the chips on Ebay for the past month or so for a set with the briefcase-- this tin will work just as well for our Sunday night games. :)

Update-- Just saw THIS on the Amazon site-- looks like the same type chip, except it's 200 with a holder for $20. So it's like getting the holder free! :)

WAIT! Don't buy that one just yet...
I know it says heavy weight chips but it looks like the one I bought at WalMart that had ~3g chips instead of 11g chips. The thing is, the package of the Walmart one didn't say heavy weight. I wish I could see a picture of the box of the Amazon one...

For those who haven't tried the "real" weight poker chips, it makes a hell of a difference. I bought 500 of the 11.5 gram chips in a mahogany case, and I love it (I won't tell how much I paid, but suffice it to say I got what I paid for.)

If you remember playing as a kid with Hoyle plastic poker chips, this is an entirely different experience. The size and weight of these chips make it so much more fun, as you splash the chips, hold them in your hand, stack them, etc. It feels like Las Vegas.

So if you can get a good deal on them, go for it. 25 cents a chip is not a bad price - anything better than that is a good deal. 200 for $20 would be incredible, although you might need two sets - 200 chips is not enough for most games.

{edit} I just looked at the 200 chip set, and as noted above in this thread, it does not specify weight. That makes a huge difference - I'd rather buy the 100 chip set and be assured of the weight being 11.5g

Also, that dealer button costs a couple dollars itself.

Alright-- made the trek to TRU this evening, and came back with the 200 chip and holder set, and the 100 chip set.

The verdict-- the 100 chip set is the better chip. :) Threw some on the postal scale to get 8 oz of chips-- then chips from the 200 and holder set... the 100 chip set is "Heavyweight" and takes approximately HALF of the chips from the "Professional weight" 200 chip set. They're heavier, and more clay or ceramic feeling.

On both chips you can see an injection mold spot on the inner ring. On the 200 chip set chips, you see a heat flare by it on most chips. On the 100 chip set, it's a clean break, much nicer looking.

The chips are identical in size though. They are both visually similar too-- solid color Red, White, Blue or Green-- with NO white marks on the edges (contrary to what it shows in the web site), and have the suits printed around the outer perimeter on both sides. The ink does appear to be brighter, or thicker, on the 100 chip set.

There is also a Texas Holdem set available with Felt and another brick looking holder for $20, but it's the "Professional weight", or lighter chips. Hope this helps! Looks like the 200 rack is going back. :) lol

Also, anyone who has bought these, what colors do you get? I noticed the colors on the tin, the colors in the closeup, and the colors you see through the panel in the tin are different

BTW, after browing around, this deal is stone cold if you need 300+ chips. The chip mongers on ebay are much cheaper, especially if you need a case (A 600 chip AL case is $20 + shipping from the cheapest place I could find using google). Still curious about the colors though.

Actually, the shipping on Ebay kills the deal and the 600 chips look identical to these anyway.
The Ebay people almost always charge $30 shipping for those cases, and they end for $25-35 or so usually... also a lot of the Ebay auctions that end for this price are 9g chips, not 11.5g. So this "stone cold" local deal (that you can pick up today without risking anything) offers basically the same chips (guaranteed 11.5g) it seems for ~$0.10/chip instead of $0.09-$0.11 per chip on Ebay where you might have lighter chips.

The case sweetens the deal, but I am pretty sure just about any quality, confirmed 11.5g chips in a 600 set w/ case will sell you back for over $60-80 after shipping. EDIT - looked up "600 11.5g poker chips" on Ebay and they're ALL ending over $60-80 BEFORE shipping, so roughly 90-110 shipped.

For those that asked, the 100 set comes with 25 each: green, blue, white, red.

Custom Chips!

that's not exactly a "hot deal" But, for fans of Vegas and Poker Chips, that's about the best thing I've EVER SEEN.

real weight Clay chips. with your logo on them (anything you want) They're spot on to Vegas chips in terms of apperance and quality. I actually held a chip off there in real life, and I couldn't believe my eyes.

they run like $500 for the low end setup. but imagine the bragging rights when you have the boys over for Friday Night Poker :)

Just got 2 tins of the 100pc set. The chips are ok. Not as heavy as the ones that one of my buddies got on ebay, but he paid like 80 bucks for that one. Hey...for $20, what do u expect???

just saw the chips at toys r us. on the tin the advertise that they are the ones with the diamonds around it, mis advertisment. they are actually the ones with the suits on them (hearts, spades, clubs and diamonds). 4 colors as stated above and a dealer button.

not bad if u need a dealer button as they run about $5 each anyways. if u need a lot of chips i would still recommend ebay though.

playing holdem with 10 players, we easily use 500 chips.

After I saw this post this afternoon, I headed to Toys'rus and found exactly where they were located. EVERY SINGLE item was in stock in the game isle EXCEPT the chips. It was unreal. :( I looked in the overheads just to make sure, but of course they were gone. I needed some chips and someone scored some before I did. :( Hopefuly they will come back in stock soon, because they are the only place so far that sells chips that are half way decent.

I don't know if "North Alabama poker" is a game or just a place. But when I hear "Alabama", I can only think of one thing:

ROLL TIDE ROLL!!!!!!!
