I've been watching it for a few months now, hoping to join as the 100,000th member, with the name "100,000". I set up a registration on a different window, and was planning to refresh the forums, and submit when we had 99,999. Well, it jumped from 99,996 to 100,003. Oh well...

I keep refreshing, and it keeps flip-flopping between 99,996 and 100,003. I wonder if that's intentional, to keep someone from claiming the coveted 100,000th user.

The answer is: 97,432 multiple, dead or inactive accounts are part of the current "100,004 Anandtech Users." It would speed things up to delete all those, but of course, 100,004 users looks a lot better to advertisers!
