I long for the day these "people" make the mistake of stepping on to private property during the exercise of their 1st Amendment rights and encounter someone more than willing to practice the one made possible by the 2nd amendment.

I'll shed a single tear.....I promise........really....

They'd have to do it in Texas.

Desecrating the flag is a protected freedom, like it or not. But disrupting a funeral (as well as all the other stupid shit those chimps at that "church" do) should land her in the slammer for a while. And using her child as a tool to express political beliefs should get her sterilized.

while i think they have the freedom to do whatever they want, that's just too far, it's in-humane.....how would they feel about a burning cross?

Throw the book at the little f*cker and his mother, but anyone who agrees with that law hasn't ever read the Constitution.

It really doesnt matter what the constitution says, its a STATE law against flag burning. Something the constitution makes completely acceptable. The constitution is just the foundation, states have every right to make up any law so long as it doesnt violate the rights the amendments give us. So i say if Nebraska has a law on the books against this thing the kid is culpable for what he did. And if his mother contributed to it by handing him the flag knowing what he was going to do then shes guilty of the deliquincy charge as well.

Dont get me wrong...the westboro nutjobs need to be stopped because thier brand of hate speech deserves to be silenced.

I'd never stomp on a flag at a military funeral. Piss or spit on it, but never stomp.

In my case it would probably be a statement towards the country's current traitor leadership and ascenine direction, and their responsibility for the unnecessary loss of lives at these funerals.

Unfortunately freedom of speech applies not only to the intelligent but also the low-life idiots like Westboro.

It pains me to have to side with them, but I hope they win. Getting the flag-burning ban over-turned would be a nice side benefit.

Disrespectful? Yes. Should it be against the law? Absolutely not.

Exactly. This is like freedom of speech. You can say rude things about people, but if you use fighting words then you get in trouble. Same here. Rude? Sure. As stupid as the kid is, there shouldn't be charges.

When they die, I'm going to show up at their funerals and cheer. YAAAY!

How about a law that does not allow "protesters" to be near funerals? Yes they have the right to protest but to celebrate or mock the death of the person being buried is just wrong on so many levels.

Tell ya what, just send em down here to us Coonasses to protest at a man's funeral. I bet they make good crabbait yeah. Tis quite easy to dispose of things in the swamp.

State laws cannot violate the US Constitution. The Civil War showed us that Federal law/authority supersedes state laws/authority. Destorying a flag is a protected form of speech under the 1st Amendment, making Nebraska's law unconstitutional. And as far as the other charges go, if the first law (desecrating a flag) is deemed unconstitutional, then there is nothing for the child to have been delinquent about. As much as I don't like the WBC, they have every right to their freedom of speech just as I have to my own views, whether I agree or disagree with how they exercise that speech.

I knew by the title of this thread it was going to be those westboro wackos. If we just ignored them, they would go away.
