10 years for consensual sex

That case is a bunch of shiznat. Dude got pinned because he was black in the south. What a waste of our legal system.....
 
You should have "oral sex" in the title, it makes the punishment even more ridiculous. Even the jury was against the ruling, but apparently they never heard of Jury Nullification. shame..
 
I remember hearing about this case as it was happening; it's pretty much ridiculous all around, with the 10-year "mandatory" sentence being the worst part. The south does indeed suck sometimes.

not mentally equipped? so when exactly DO kids know right from wrong? i'm sorry, but anyone with a half decent conscience can tell what they are doing, especially in this case, is wrong in some sense, but you can always choose to (not) do something.

I disagree. a 15 yr old knows the consquances of such stuff. do they care? no because they do not think anything will happen to them. but they know what can happen.
 
Indeed. People who hide behind the, "Ohh the child didn't know what they are doing because they don't fully understand" excuse is bullcrap. You know about sex, but more important the difference between right and wrong at ten years old, even younger in most cases. This was a case between two minors, it's not like when you reach 18 (or whatever age you are able to legally consent in from state to state) a lightbulb inside your head just suddenly switches on and you automatically become enlightened with all the morality of the world.

Some people need to get a grip on reality. But if they did that they would want to arrest all the sexually active teens out there, and I hope to whatever God they pray to they don't just prosecute the males.:disgust:

Yeah I agree I was stupid when I was 15 but I deff knew what was right and wrong and was mentally equipped to make my own decisions...
