Maybe we should outlaw parenting too then eh?
We need some. Just have it licensed :)

With all the cleaning accidents that result in a shooting, I still can't understand why anyone would clean a loaded weapon. I would wager alcohol was involved.

i agree. Who in the right mind would clean their weapon loaded? Are they that worried that they're going to get robbed in that 5 minute span?

God only knows, but it happens!

I remember now as a kid being at another kid's house and his older brother, who was probably only 12 or 13 had his dad's rifle off the mantle or whatever (this was in Canada) and was waving it around. I vaguely recall something about the older bully brother pointing it at his younger brother and I was thinking "this isn't good". I was 9 or something at the time, but I don't believe the gun was loaded. Fvcking parents.

Hey all you gun toting smart guys before you start ragging on imtim83 because you love your little toys...

Check out these stats: http://www.nationmaster.com/cat/Crime

America is massively more violent than any other first world country and has far more firearms deaths than any first or second world country.

Here we go again, a story about a killing turns into an invitation for all rednecks show up and raise their confederate flags in one hand and their guns in the other. :D

Yep.

The scariest thing I think I learned today is that America has more people in prison than China... Holy crap. We have like 1/4th or less of their population!

What about the fact that we document our crime a lot better then most of these countries?

I agree that we as American's have a problem with firearms, but it can't be blamed on the firearms themselves. Thats what you seem to not understand.

Had this father taught his son the power of that shotgun, I have no doubt in my mind he'd still be alive today. So basically what I'm saying is that its his own damn fault. For A) not teaching his son, and B) keeping a loaded shotgun unlocked, probably sitting under his bed or in his closet. And now his son will have to live with that for the rest of his life, because this was no doubt something he didn't mean to happen.

You also have no understand of what it would mean to illegalizing weapons in this country. Did you read my Civil War statement. It could happen, and anyone who understands this country and American's also understands why that would be more then just possible, it would be likely. And then how many people will die?

What we need to do is find the cause, and fix it. I've already found the problem in my mind, its the parents and their irresponsible laziness. That's 90% of the problem in America if you ask me, now how do we fix that.

There is an easier solution to gun violence... chop off everyone's fingers. Lets see how many guns get fired then! :D

You people need to think outside the box.

Uh China only killed 1,000 prisoners in that year. Out of 1,500,000. I don't think that even matters. Its called a drop in the ocean.

lol you're assuming that the Chinese government accurately reports what it does behind closed doors. LOL China of all countries has the lowest respect for human rights. I would take any statistics regarding China with a grain of salt.

edit: bleh grammar

Once again, how well do you think those stats hold up to the facts?? What keeps a communist controlled government from blatently lieing about how many of their citizens they killed? Nothing. So once again, your argument holds no water.

Even Japan has their stats meddled with. They say no one gets killed in Japan, that there is no violence at all. Then talk to someone who has lived there, and knows the actual facts. Those facts aren't what is written down. The Yakuza practically controls the Japanese government in some area's. Think Vegas in the beginning. And the fact is that all their crime is covered up. So in reality, Japan has a lot more crime then is actually documented.
