Thanks bunches guys! I had decided to go there tomorrow to get a wireless network, so should save me about $17.

I was intending to use a coupon on the Samsung LCD 171V panel which is going to be on sale Friday but not sure if it will work. I was in BB over lunch and showed the coupon to one of the BB drones hovering in the computer department. Apparently he had never seen one before because he had to read it (took awhile, seemed to have a problem with any words exceeding 4 characters).

Finally, wiith great satisfaction, he said "NO". When asked why not, he said because monitors weren't listed. When pointed out that the phrase "...including joysticks, game pads.." etc. doesn't mean excluding everthing but those items listed, he had difficulty grasping the concept. I then asked him if a monitor was a peripheral? He couldn't come up with any response other than they weren't included.

I'm pretty confident that when it comes time to do the deal, BB will take 10% off but wondered what others thought or if they had any first hand experience.

I have already had a BB refuse a PM and a 10% off coupon on a single item purchase that had no rebate.

Also, keep in mind, if BB corp wants to get nasty, and they usually are, they have the right to deny a rebate on a purchase that shows the 10% off. In fact, that is their corporate policy.

I am not trying to hurt any of these posts/deals that have gone up all over the Internet concerning PM's, rebates and the 10% off coupon. (I want a good deal just like any one else.) I am just stating what could possibly happen.

For large purchases with big rebates, I am staying away from the coupon.

These are just my thoughts and nothing else.

Edit...
Yes, it was an item that was even listed on the coupon, a video card.

Edit...
"I have already had a BB refuse a PM and a 10% off coupon on a single item purchase that had no rebate."

Let me clarify the immediate above... I was given the PM, but they would not give me both. I took the PM because it was larger than the 10% off I would have received.

I agree with CyOp regarding PM's. I've done it on a couple of occasions but usually don't want to go through the hassle. And, after all, if an offer is truly legit, why not buy from the original advertiser unless it is really inconvenient to make the purchase, and in that instance, you are actually asking another seller for a favor...it is not your right to demand a PM. Also, I disagree completely with the dishonest tactics that some on this forum advocate which in many cases is nothing less than cheating retailers. That is inexcusable and unethical.

Regarding this issue, I think BB would have to honor the 10% off on a monitor. After all, it is a "peripheral" and has not been explicitly excluded as they have done with the Bose speakers and Apple Ipod.

Yes, AMDfreak, update.

Mac, I am not sure what you are agreeing to that I said? Thanks anyway, though.

A BB customer does have the right to demand a PM if it meets BB's advertised 'claims', and BB HAS to do it.

In the case I was refering to, I did the PM because it was more convenient for me.

Anyway, BB did not do me a favor, they did what they themselves advertised they would do, which is exactly what they should do.

Hmm... Are any of you going to use this coupon on Black Friday? That geforce4 ti4200 could be a total of 75.

Like there would be any left...
BB is going to be on my avoid-store list unless they have one for me.

kick ass! so then assuming i can find stuff in stock, i can get the hard drive bundle and a printer together on black friday and have 10% taken off the total price?😀

Cashed in the coupon on a Samsung 171V LCD panel yesterday. Here's the deal...$550- 55 (10%) - 150 MIR = $345. Great LCD monitor even at $400.

Had a little bit of a problem though. Because I was doing the exchange/rebuy on a video card, I went directly to the CSR desk. After reading through the coupon, the CSR said no because a monitor wasn't a peripheral. I think the real issue was because it was $550 and a monitor wasn't listed specifically within the "...including..." list of items on the coupon. We discussed our disagreement in a civil and courteous manner. She then suggested that I call the BB Consumer Relations desk to see what they would say. Think she thought I would simply buy and go home, because when I said "Fine, where's a phone?", she was surprised. After 10 or 15 min of conversation between myself, the CR desk and the store, they agreed to do the coupon. However, they said their decision was based upon wanting to please a customer, not because I was right. According to BB, a monitor is computer hardware and not a peripheral. Suppose I am too old school because a monitor, or practically anything else hanging off of a computer is a perpheral. In fact, I don't know why BB was including MP3 players because they are most definitely not a perpheral, except there may be a little more margin on these overpriced items. Whatever...

Bottomline, as I have said before, if you treat others with courtesy and do not try to rip them off with bizarre PM schemes, you will generally be treated well and come away successful with a great deal. A special "Someone" said it 2000 years ago, "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you."
