According to the terms, the 10% discout does not apply to any other discounts (academic, employee, etc.) I'm gonna head on over to a nearby store to see if they'll make the exception (10% plus student discount). If they do, I'm gonna get the 20GB iPod.

Actually, the terms also stated that it's applicable for Apple store purchases as well.
Terms: "Electronic discounts are valid at the Apple Store for U.S. Consumers and Apple Store for Canadian Consumers, and Apple Store retail locations"
