I have MBNA for a credit card company and i told them that i had a receipt from speigel.com for $0.00 due to the $10 GC for 2 totes and catalogs, etc. Spiegel NEVER contacted me and I NEVER allowed them to charge my cc for $10.00. MBNA told me that I should get into contact with speigel about it, and if they didn't want to take it off, at least I would have MBNA backing me. Just FYI. So i'm disputing it and won;t have to pay for it in the meantime, i'll keep you posted as to how it turns out.

This is the disclaimer that Spiegel now gives on their order confirmation page (no idea what they used to say before):

*Order Total is an estimate. All charges, including merchandise prices, are subject to correction in the event of printing or calculation errors. In case of a merchandise pricing error, we will contact you before processing your order. Your Order Total is based on valid promotion codes and valid gift certificate numbers and amounts. Your credit card will be charged the balance if any are invalid.

Clicking on continue appears to give them permission to charge your credit card if they determine that your gift certificate or promotion code is "invalid."

They have had that disclaimer since the first fiasco I believe. That's why I stay away from these Speigel GC deals.

Advice to people that got charged the $10.00 to thier account.
Don't Email them....Just call them on the phone. I also had the charge on my CC for $10.00. I called them on the phone and the person I spoke with was very friendly and said that my CC would be credited....It took me all of 2 minutes.

Save yoself groveling amoungst household *rap from the dollar store and write some Programs!
