If it wasn't for public transportation in Chicago, I would be on the road 1 hour each way for my commute...

I've never been to NYC (going later this summer), but I've heard that it's much worse than Chicago. I've never had much trouble driving anywhere in Chicago, although I do know that if you need to go downtown at certain times, it's best to take the train.
I guess that's why my sister and I avoid the freeways at certain times. She's the one who lives there, but when I visit, she always makes me drive while she navigates.
Sacramento has rough roads? Um, since when? How do they determine these things, anyway, randomly drive around for an hour and see how manytimes the car hits a bump?

They've never driven in Folsom. Where they would be forced to conclude "We never knew so many people were able to drive with thier heads up thier asses".
Whoever made that survey is on crack. New York should be a lot higher on the list, probably #1, as many 6-8 way intersections, lots of foot traffic, left-side highway exits/entrances, huge "No turn zone"s, and scarce parking make it an extremely nervewracking drive.
Los Angeles is not that bad. Neither is D.C.
Also, I see a lot of people saying Chicago is terrible driving .... Some people I worked with in Orlando repeatedly said that they missed driving in Chicago because it was so much faster and less fvcked up.

I dunno about Atlanta, but parts of LA there is little that can beat it...
i lived 5 miles from where I went to school and a minimum drive time was 30 min., during afternoons it could get up to an hour and there is no side roads that improve it and the public transportation sux...

Here is the deal with Chicago... if your in before 6:30 AM and out before 3:30PM your ok... But try to drive on 290 or 294 or 55 during rush hour... you'll want to shoot yourself. It all depends on where your going and at what time... it can be very clear driving or VERY bad. However if your going in or out of Chicago during rush hour... god it's bad. Average speed is maybe 10-15MPH on the highway.
And drive on the side roads... it's like playing dodge the potholes. The plows RIP up the roads during the winter.
Obviously you people havent been to Oklahoma City. My blood pressure goes up about 20 points whenever I'm out driving with all the dumbass-slowass molasses drivers driving in the the left lane and turning without turning signal.

I'm surprised that New Orleans wasn't listed as one of the bad ones. It's utterly terrible. The roads are nasty and all messed up, it seems every street is a one way street, it doesn't follow a grid pattern, there are only 2 real ways to get in or out of the city. Yeah, the weather for driving isn't terrible most of the year because it doesn't snow but actually driving there SUCKS.
everything in denver sucks as far as traffic...especially when construction starts and never ends.

I guess I agree with just about everyone that this "study" is seriously flawed. I think they put too much emphasis on cold weather, and apparently no weight whatsoever to insurance costs or the road rage/percentage nutso drivers factor. There is no way in a rationale universe that Memphis would rank in the top ten. And for the Big Dig alone, Boston should be given its own super special category, beyond the worst.

How in the hell did Oklahoma City make that list on the good side? I hate driving there.....damn place is always under construction and the detours are horrible.....traffic is usually pretty bad as well. I live in Tulsa and take a bit of an issue with them saying Oklahoma has rough roads. Sure there are a few that give you a shaking(especially downtown), but on the whole Tulsa has very nice streets.

Ive lived in 18 different states and driven in almost all of them and NONE are as bad as Floriduh! Used to drive over 60K a year in sales but if Id been in Floriduh, Id have quit!!
Of the 10 least drivable cities, Id take at least 8 of them over here.

On my vacation there, the driving is 10000000x better than NYC.
