Well we are getting some questions here; I will be more direct hardware questions, that have direct mean in today?s world of computing

Jeez, quick with the response! Was that off the top of your head or from a web search? :)

I remember reading that faq back in '93. It was the first faq I ever read.

Here's one for real. Ask him how it is possible to create structures on microprocessors that are actually smaller than the wavelength of light that defines them. If he knows the answer to that one, then just stop asking. :)

What's the pin count of socket 5 and socket 7?

What's the maximum memory capacity for the Intel TX chipset?

What's the default voltage for the Intel Socket 7 MMX CPU?

Name all 5 Intel Socket 5/7 chipsets in succession.

What were the code names for the socket 8 chipsets?

Except for the size, how is the cache different between a PIII CPU and an FC-PGA Celeron?

Which of the 6 chipsets were built into Dual CPU motherboards....... 440 FX, 440 LX, 440 EX, 440 ZX, 440 BX, i820

What does ASCII mean? Which peripheral initially implements it's use in the computing process?

How many pins are on a standard motherboard bios chip or Open Boot Prom?

What type of memory was the Intel 450 GX chipset designed to use? Which type of CPU?

What's the compatibility standard for the majority of CDROM drives? Hint ISO....

With what processor did PCI slots first appear?

What's the pin count on a floppy drive cable?

<edit> Here's another. Can you run FAT 16 and FAT 32 partitions on the same hard drive? </edit>

Should be enough. At least one or two will get your boss.

Killbat, you can usually do this by either disabling the IDE controller or by setting the 8-bit RLL card as the secondary, and since the ports are different, there are no hardware conflicts. Don't set the motherboard BIOS for automatic recognition; set it for either type 0 or type 1. But some BIOSes are incompatible with some RLL card BIOSes.

Western Digital should still have the documentation for their old RLL cards, or search the web for something called THEREF.

So back to the original post, Maybe the reason your boss can answer all the questions you threw him is because you only asked him questions you know the answer to.
