Emergency Management Staff Trainer - BETA TEST III 10.20.11 @ 8PM EST - This opportunity has been approved by the moderators.

The EMST is running on a brand new server! With many behind the scenes updates. We are looking for 100 Beta Testers to join us for our 1 hour Beta Test, on Thursday 10.20.11 @ 8PM EST.

What is Emergency Management Staff Trainer
  • EMST allows you to select a role and participate in a simulated incident. It is used to train emergency services for disasters. There is no software to download – EMST runs in your browser.

User Interface
screenshot1.png

What do you get for Beta Testing?
  • ANY game/DLC on Steam up to $10 USD..

How will you get the game to me?
  • After the test, each successful participant will receive a confirmation E-mail.
  • Simply reply to this E-mail "with the E-mail address linked to your Steam account" and the game you want. The Game will be gifted to you through your E-mail. Friend us on Steam, “emst_test”

BUT WAIT THERE'S MORE
  • If you get your grandma, some friends and the family pet to each Register, Login, and participate in the Beta test then have them use YOUR Steam information in the confirmation E-mail, their $10 will go towards YOU!

For example, if you get 5 people, that’s $50 = Batman: Arkham City... 6 people, that’s $60 = Skyrim!

How in the world can we be doing this?
  • Compensation is done by real people, not a computer. So we can handle each person on a case-by-case basis.

What are the requirements to get my Steam game?
  • Be Registered, Logged in, and Joined in the Beta Test for (1) Hour on Thursday 10.20.11 @ 8PM EST.

Go to test-EMST.com to Register and for more information. Make sure to watch the video tutorial on how to get started.

How do I get added to the list of 100 Beta Testers for Thursday 10.20.11 @ 8PM EST?
  • Simply let us know! After you Register, E-mail: EMST@RXEGROUP.COM with your intent to be there and you will be added to the roster.

Only the FIRST 100 Beta Testers to log in and stay for the whole test duration (1 hour) will be eligible for the Steam offer.
No vulgarity, No spamming, and No intentional jeopardizing of the test, or you will be banned.

TL;DR
$10 for any Game/DLC on Steam to help Beta Test in-browser software for 1 hour. It is used to train First Responders for Natural Disasters

I think the title of the post is slightly misleading. It should say "$10 toward any Game/DLC on Steam..."

Nope, we have taste tested this and it is no Hormel product whatsoever.

We were respectfully approached by this fellow a month ago, and in our ensuing staff discussion a consensus was reached to allow this one special exception to our regular "no promotions" policy, for reasons I hope are apparent to everyone.

Prior warning may have been prudent to avoid scenarios where we instinctively and quite rightly treat this message as spam.

As it turns out, I am unable to stay up until 1am on the required day so I am unable to participate :(

They don't have in house testing?

They probably do, but the problem with in house testers is that they have been looking at the software for so long that they can miss simple things.

It is probably also at a point where they are looking at how the near final build flow is like and how people who are not familiar with the software can navigate the screens. As this is a training program, I think this is actually a fine test to do as we can be the perfect simulation for the software's purpose. Also, as they noted that they are on a new server, they probably want testers logging in from various connections and setups to see if network connectivity is ok. In house testers would be all behind the same connection/setup.

Can't believe this passed the no Hormel test

Here' the same thing from a month ago on another site:
http://www.gamesforum.com/pc-discus...ester-emst-receive-10-any-game-dlc-steam.html

Pretty sure even if the Steam offer was legit
the first 100 suckers to reply limit - has been passed long ago

I don't know, but my guess is that they are likely doing this in waves of 100 at a time, and it's AT's turn. Else, why wait one full month from the time they respectfully came to us and asked until they posted here? Doesn't seem like troll behavior to me.

You basically hit the nail on its head! This software will be used for multiple emergency response organizations from around the nation simultaneously.

A hand full of programmers in an office cannot properly test the system for these future exercises.

This is our third Beta Test. We are going for 100 users, and yes I got permission to introduce it to the forum, as well as gamesforum.com. The more outlets that people can be made aware of this the higher the probability of successfully getting 100 people. And I made a new thread on gamesforum.com for this test as well.

A lot of people are nervous about this being a scam, I can understand how it appears as one simply because the internet is full of them. This was government funded and will only be used by National Guard and State/Fed Emergency Responders. Convincing the Project Manager to allow 100 gamers in the system made them far more nervous :)

OK so I just got my username/password but I see that registration is closed. Does that mean I made it or that my email I'm supposed to send after getting my login info doesn't matter now?

Beta Test III was a huge success!
At the end, the exercise was flooded with all injects and scenarios simultaneously to see what would happen. The Beta Test was a huge success thanks in part to you.
I will be getting a list of all participants from the engineers who helped with the Beta Test. Expect an E-mail within the next couple of days for your Steam compensation. :)
Thanks again guys!

I guess I missed it, I logged in at 8:03pm and didn't see the thing that video shows and I went through and messed around with most everything I could. I liked the site though and found it easy to use.

EMStaffTrainer,

Just so you know, the countdown on the website was an hour off. I was lucky and logged in beforehand to check it and saw that it was going on.

Sad that I missed this due to my UK TimeZone.

Sounds like you had plenty of testers though :) Tau Commander DLC for Retribution TLS will have to wait :D

I will never doubt the Forum Director vetting process again :)

PS - let's hope the next nuclear attack isn't handled by the same team
that was on there last nite:p

Just so everyone knows, this was completely legit. Myself and my family participated and they all put their $10 toward my Steam account. They gifted me what I asked for; Batman Arkham City preorder and LIMBO.

Looking forward to the next test ;)
