As of July 28 the deal is kind of dead because the coupon only drops the price to something like 21.00

Dragon Naturally Speaking with headset for $10 shipped. Comes with headset.

This is one version old, maybe two.

For Linux users, this has the highest rated WINE compatibility(gold)- better than version 11. In Linux the basics work, not much more, you can write into notepad or some other Windows simple editor, can't remember the name for sure. ( For linux users, follow the directions on the wine website, and I find it best to not train it, and do not save the "improvements." )

This is a good version as far as accuracy.

Not sure how it works on Windows 7 but it works great on XP.

The trick in ordering is to use the coupon: dragon995
and then choose free shipping. It says free shipping over 20 but it did not add shipping for me. Though maybe the order will be canceled because of the shipping. YMMV

Never shopped at purplus before. It looks to be a good place from the reseller ratings and the yahoo shopping ratings it has. I'll have to check it out more in the future.

I didn't get my order but I just got a USPS tracking number - so it looks like it has gone through.
 
Any of you have a older(late 60s, early 70s) relative who uses this? I'm thinking about it for my mother in-law but she still has to use a step by step print out to send email so anything complex won't help. Is this easy to use for someone of that skill level?
 
My dad is in his 70's and loves it. He's on a couple of meeting groups and serves as secretary. Records everything on his mp3 pen, then uses that to help him make the meeting notes. Then he dictates to Dragon. Takes a bit to teach it to recognize you, and you have to still watch for spelling/replacement type errors, but it works well. He loves it.
 
My experience with DNS 10 & 11 is mixed on Windows 7. Seems to work great on XP but on Windows 7, I had better luck using Windows' built-in accessibility features for speech recognition. One area DNS consistently had problems was with flash-based websites or places like facebook.

I don't personally use speech recognition but both people I've had to help with DNS problems were using Win 7 and like I said, DNS didn't seem to do anything that Win 7's built-in features couldn't do (at least for those two users -- both of them were older dad's who just wanted to keep in touch with their kids without having to type).
 
Received the product today. It looks great. I am not going to be using it for I already have two but totally looks authentic.

I received mine yesterday as well. Looks good, like your typical retail box. I haven't had time to install it yet.
