New York State grabs three spots out of ten!

# Hotel Carter, New York City, New York
# 3.New York Inn, New York City, New York
# 9.Ramada Plaza Hotel JFK International Airport, Jamaica, New York

🙁 I apologize on behalf of my state and NYC

Funny thing is the Inn New York City is rated as the best hotel in the US according to TripAdvisor. Guess New York City Inn was trying to fool some people or something.

wow that Hotel Carter - how has it escaped health and safety inspections for so long!?

The sad part is I have stayed in manhattan for $145 /night at the hilton garden inn.

Nice clean and one block from times square!

reminds me of a hotel i stayed at when I was in china. My gf woke up in the middle of the night with two giant bed bugs on her and two deads one that she squash.

Go to India, those pics will look like the goddamn hilton

True. Some of the nice hotels in India are pretty swank, though.

the swank ones have their own problems though, worse than cockroaches

I've stayed basically all over India, including very rural areas that didn't even have running water. I never saw anything that nasty.

A lack of services is one thing (India), but having soiled linens, mold, etc. is another.

you seem to have spent more money than I did or got very lucky in delhi and mumbai

and don't kid yourself the linens are always soiled

heh, I think we have almost stayed in that Days inn in Gatlinburg. However there is a cheaper hotel right across the street, it's kind of crappy but better than those pictures of the Days inn!

Holy shit.

I thought to myself, "How bad could it really be?"

It's that bad. :Q

I have stayed in lots of cheap hotels on low-budget holidays over the years; extremely minimal - bed, a table and a chair or two. No wall decoration, actual furniture, slightly better than a prison cell.

Thankfully have never had to deal with rashes, pests and the like. I couldn't believe some of the pics submitted by Hotel Carter patrons.

"Enjoy the warm hospitality and service at the Hotel Carter- a unique- inviting departure from traditional hotels in Manhattan. With 730 renovated rooms- all with private baths that are very affordable- you*ll get a close up view of New York City's Time Square. You can even catch the spectacular ball drop on New Year*s. Located in the heart of the Theatre District and Times Square- with major bus and train lines at our front door- we are half block from the Port Authority bus terminal- and in walking distance from the United Nations- Rockefeller Center- Fifth Avenue- Macys- the New York City Public Library- Radio City Hall- and every major museum"
